UPDATE: Raphael Fahie’s wife disputes SVG sources’ statements

-but confirms Fahie missing at sea; SVG Coast Guard says search suspended due to foul weather

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Wife of the missing Virgin Islander Mr Raphael Fahie, has disputed reports that indicated that drugs were found on the vessel which her husband was believed to have been on when it crashed off St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Speaking exclusively with Virgin Islands News Online this morning July 1, 2014 she claimed that her husband’s name was not released by the Police in St Vincent and more so the search has not ended.

“That information is devastating to my children and to me, that is not true about my husband," she said.

She has however confirmed that Fahie is indeed missing in St Vincent's waters. Virgin Islands News Online was reliably informed with regards to drugs allegedly being found on the wrecked boat.

This is despite the statements to the contrary by St. Vincent Coast Guard Commander Dion Henry on Monday June 30, 2014 which suggested that the search was still on for the missing man and the vessel.

In speaking with this news site today July 1, 2014 Commander Henry said that the search has been suspended because of overcast weather conditions, which he said were not conducive for a search operation. He said it will be resumed when the weather improves.

UPDATE: Search continues for missing man - SVG Coast Guard

- man believed to be VIslander Raphael Fahie

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, WI – The St. Vincent Coast Guard this morning June 30, 2014 confirmed that they have not found the person believed to be missing following a boat accident off the island of Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Speaking with Virgin Islands News Online, Commander Dion Henry of the St. Vincent Coast Guard said that the search continues for the missing man and the boat he was in. It is believed that the missing man is Virgin Islander Raphael Fahie.

“Thus far we have no indication of the vessel that was capsized or the person in the water. We are still conducting searches and thus far all results have been negative,” said Commander Henry.

However, Police sources in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have confirmed to this news site that a boat had been searched and a quantity of drugs found, leading to the arrest and placing into custody of a second Virgin Islander, who is said to have picked up by Marine Police as he attempted to swim ashore after the boat accident.

When this news site put to the Coast Guard the information about the boat being found, they maintained that this was not their information and that they were still searching for a boat and the person believed missing.

Raphael Fahie believed missing off SVG

- Another VIslander rescue‎d & in Police custody after drugs found on crashed boat in St. Vincent's waters

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, WI - Informed and reliable sources out of the St. Vincent Police Force today June 28, 2014 confirmed with this news site that two Virgin Islanders were involved in a boat accident in St. Vincent and the Grenadines' territorial waters.

Former Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Officer Raphael Fahie was believed to be one of the occupants of the boat but has not yet been found.

When contacted by this news site today June 28, 2014, an official of the St. Vincent Coast Guard said, “Yes there was an incident at sea, however I cannot confirm to you whether that particular person you’re talking about (Fahie) is dead or alive, because that person has not been found. If you cannot see that person you cannot pronounce that person dead.”

This news site has learnt that the St. Vincent Coast Guard has suspended its search for the missing man.

According to our authentic sources Fahie and another man were in the boat which crashed onto a reef. Marine Police in St. Vincent allegedly rescued the lone survivor who informed of the missing Fahie.

During the rescue mission it was alleged that a quantity of illegal drugs was found aboard the ill-fated vessel resulting in the survivor being arrested and taken into custody.

This news site was able to confirm the incident with at least one media entity in St Vincent and the Grenadines and we post below the link to their story.

Do some research on what their government thinks a person with a bachelors degree and 10 years experience and no special last name privileged deserves and you'll understand why drugs is almost a necessity in these times friend

the young men wont leave the drugs alone because all the old people here in the bvi that had life easy up until 1996 with all the drug money in the islands became greedy and didnt pave the way for their kids and grand kids so the cycle gotta continue... look around at all the big apartment building and big houses in the hills most of them were built between 1980 and 1996 with drug money... and now the same old farts that had life easy because of the cocaine trade sitting around like saints tryna crucify the young people for following in there footsteps...

Real, are you for real? You are really out of place to think that everyone with a big house or apartment used drug money to build. Most of those people worked hard and went to the bank to obtain money to build. Stop being so jealous.

Tim, I totally agree with you. I built my house in 1995 and worked very hard to do so. I also know of friends and family who did the same. We have no idea what drugs look like much less to deal it. It is so sad that we can't be happy for each other accomplishments. We do have hardworking honest people who work hard for what they want.

It is obvious that you have no clue what you are talking about. My entire family and siblings have their own homes at the tune of mortgages from the bank and has worked very hard to repay their mortgages.

Your comment is very insulting to the thousands of BVIslanders who worked and is still working hard to own our homes honestly. I guess where you come from that is how people get what they have, but please do your research and you will find that you are wrong.
My house and those of my siblings houses are on the hill and for your information, they were not built with DRUG MONEY. My oldest brother built his house in 1970 and since then he has built many more buildings all from working hard.

For your information I have a "big house on the hill and an apartment building" which were built by Scotiabank funds and I worked and still working very hard to pay off the loans so don't come on here with your speculation that all big houses were built with drug money. Maybe 1% of them were but people in the BVI work hard for what they got; so go take a seat with your broke, jealous self

@Real , You need a real ticket back home. I too have a big house on my hill and I am working every day of my life and so did my father and grandfather, so boss don't start spreading propaganda. When you talk, speak facts and statistics or HUSH. My father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all men of character and values who helped to make BVI attractive for people like you to run to. Don't generalize!!! Further, you are the old fart that need to GO BACK HOME and stop minding Tola people business. I, like many BVIslanders work, sweat and toil for what we have. You all just come here and got attitude with people and their forefathers for what they sweat hard and toil for, but jealously will get you NOWHERE>>>>

Not going to write no big ass editorial on the whole slavery bit, but blacks were sold to the Europeans by other blacks. Warring tribes would lead the inexperienced slavers into the bush and help them ambush rival tribes for sickly donkey, one shot muskets and beans.

But yeah, back to the matter at hand and in keeping with the superb comment quality of VINO...."Deeds coastguards need to get deport!"

“His report was that the other guys said that he didn’t think he could make it. So he tied a floating buoy around him,” Cain told I-Witness News.

What do you get from this sentence. We're there several persons on this boat? I am a bit confused with this story.

Lady. I am sorry for you and your children. Unfortunately, I'm going to believe what the authorities report over what you think your husband wasn't involved with. Let this be a lesson to wives to not ignore the obvious just because daddy's paying the bills and the kids are happy. Those children need a daddy at home, same as you need a husband, far more than the material things d..ty money can buy. If you suspect, talk to your spouse. Convince him his life is worth more to you than anything in the world he thinks he can give you.
