Man robbed of gold chain in Purcell

Reports reaching our newsroom is that a man was reportedly robbed of a gold chain in the early hours of this morning Saturday December 23, 2017 in Purcell Estate on Tortola.

Information is sketchy; however, an eyewitness told our newsroom that a man was leaving his automobile in the new BVI Ports Authority Purcell parking lot when a young man came up to him and allegedy snatched his gold chain.

The man being robbed tried to defend himself from the attacker and it was alleged that a gun may have been used; however, it is unclear if it was the robber or the victim who allegedly had a gun.

Police spokeswoman Diane L. Drayton did not immediately respond to our queries before publication time; however, police are investigating the matter.

You do not need legislation to defend yourself. The law allows that. What you need is a licensed firearm. That's where it becomes difficult. Someone may say we'll the criminals don't need a licence to carry one but that is why they are call criminals. What should happen is that the process to obtain a firearm licence should be easier.

Anti gun control??? I do not believe it. Hey, it is not working in U.S.A. (look at Chicago & D.C.) yet Obama says, Hillary says, & the rest of the democrats say IT WILL. You have it right, It will NOT. Criminals have guns no matter what. Be careful what you say, Trump advocates are not very popular in these islands!!

There's already law in the defense of yourself or another in the VI, u just have to know where to find it. If one attempts to rob or is a threat to you or another and he is killed by you defending your self or another, or is trying to escape from law enforcement, the law says that person has forfeited his life. Meaning his killing once not excessive is lawful. Know your laws BVI ppl.

Don’t think you can take someone’s life for taking your gold chain ar snatching your bag.Think you can only do it if your life or another’s is in imminent danger.

Smh! This just a talk as always. By next week it’s back to normal. Still wondering why people not speaking up enough on guns and drugs? Everyday I try to highlight this but no one study’s me. No one ain’t really interested as they friends involved or someone they know and by them talking about it will make them look soft. Illegal Guns and drugs have to room in our community. Will be good if those popular ratchet dudes and ladies strike up conversation about guns and drugs, but they won’t cause they too endorse that duty stinking filthy lifestyle

Sir, it is a pity you did not have a double barrel shot gun on you to blow them into the next century when they approach you to rob you. I don't give a flying @#$& anymore. I am keeping myself armed now. If they step to me, I am going to blow the mother@$!Kers into the next century. I don't have a problem spending a few years in jail for taking out street scams. enough is f×$#ING enough.

Im just thinking why people feel the need to just help themselves to other people things. Idiots, it is not going to last and someone is going to do it back to you so you can feel how the person you violated and rob felt. Hey, we all doing iffy, iffy right now after the hurricane but robbing people is not going to make your situation any better. I know a lot of you is sucking your teeth saying I am talking stupidness and I don't understand but I dont care
