St Thomas horses do battle today @ Clinton E. Phipps track in USVI

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- With just two horses from St Croix making the trip, race horses on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands will virtually be battling among themselves when a 5-race card is staged at the Clinton E. Phipps race track today, February 7, 2016.

The final two races of the day are expected to draw most of the attention with Pumped Up Kicks, Scripture N Verse and Unguided Missile doing battle in Race 4 and Atrevete, I’m sensational, Bling Bang and Bar Magic going head to head in the final race of the day.

The race, according to Kareem ‘Pogo’ Thompson, the Secretary for the St Thomas Horse Racing Association, is being seen as a warm-up for the Carnival Races in March.

“We were expected some horses from Tortola and St Croix to come but they didn’t make it. The guys from Tortola decided to stay home since they are expecting races there at the end of the month.

“So we are going to use this race as a warm-up for Carnival Races on March 20th. So the guys going to run against themselves and get ready to run on March when we should get some horses from Tortola and St Croix to participate in our races,” Mr Thompson told Virgin Islands News Online.

Mr Thompson, however, said he wanted to “big up” Mr Abdul Williams for bringing two horses from St Croix for the races today.

“The whole card is good but the next exciting race, apart from Race 4, involves Atrevete and I’m sensation in a grudge match. They also have Bling Bang in there and Bar Magic. But Atrevete and I’m sensational are expected to go head to head.

“That is the last race of the day and everybody has that race real hyped up so we can consider that the feature race of the day,” Mr Thompson said.

Race Time today is 2pm.

You full of sh*t we still had to pay to get it here.....if they had lend it.....they would have got it for free....The race it had here for January only 3 horses comes out of 8......Tola still had to assist with getting St. Thomas here to run and you still calling Tortola bad...you need to do your background check before you start to talk.
