ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today December 29, 2015 confirmed the occurrence of loud explosions resembling gunshots in the Purcell Estate area late last night December 28, 2015.

Calls flooded our newsroom after the sounds were heard as residents of the area and persons in the vicinity at the time dove for cover.

However, in confirming the story which was first and accurately reported by this news site, the Police indicated that it has not been ascertained whether the sounds were indeed gunshots.

“Police confirm reports of several loud explosions resembling gunshots in the Purcell Estate area last night December 28, 2015,” said Police Public Relations Officer Diane Drayton in a comment to this news site. “However, no other information was obtained and no injuries were reported,” she added.

PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Reports reaching our newsroom moments ago are that gunshots were heard in the Purcell area of Tortola. The gunshots were reportedly heard in the area of the Purcell basketball court at around 10:45 PM on December 28, 2015.

Many persons who heard the gunshots reportedly took cover in nearby houses or closeby businesses. Our newsroom is working our many sources to confirm more details and will update our many readers as soon as we receive more information.

Confirmation of the gunshots reports was not yet received from Police Information Officer Diane Drayton as of post time.

It was over three weeks ago that gunshots rang out in Purcell Estate, resulting in the death of 28 year old David N. James aka ‘Bushman’.

Mr James will be laid to rest on December 29, 2015.

      @ boo; if you need the attention of government simply have a white person make a complaint; the residents will talk til the cows come home without much results BUT let someone white strike up the same topic: look at the cruise project, the white boy got the attention of the government, the governor and got free air time with all the online news media, Radio and Television...all we good for are votes on election day

    Tribute?That is how you do a tribute? How about doing something positive instead of terrorizing the community with their unlawful and inconsiderate behavior. They are completely out of control and we cannot continue at this pace as it will destroy the community. Do not let this young man's death go in vain. We need to clean up Purcell especially by that Basketball court or soon we will not be able to walk the streets in peace.
