UPDATE: Pilot is dead following crash

BEEF ISLAND, VI- The lone occupant who was also the pilot in the plane that crashed in the sea off Beef Island yesterday, Wednesday July 18, 2018 has died.

Both Airport Authority Officials and Police have also confirmed the death. The man whose name and photo we have, was rescued from the sea by Fire and Rescue Personnel before he passed last evening.

The Local Police along with Aviation Authorities are investigating the fatal plane accident.

Plane crashed off Terrance B. Lettsome Airport

Our newsroom can confirm that a small plane, a C 150, with only the pilot on board, crashed in waters close to the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport off Beef Island.

The accident happened around 4:17 P.M. this afternoon, Wednesday July 18, 2018.

The Airport Authority’s Fire and Rescue Service was moments later on the scene and secured the pilot; however, his condition is still unknown.

Our newsroom will bring you more accurate information, as they become available.
