ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- No one appreciates being disturbed from their rest, especially in the wee hours of the morning, but for Shanique Toney of Paraquita Bay, Tortola she didn’t mind it one bit this morning, August 7, 2016.

Toney was in deep sleep when she received the call that she was the new owner of a brand new 2016 Nissan Versa Sedan, shortly after 3:00 A.M.

The car was, as promised by Tola Radio VI, raffled at the close of the Virgin Islands Emancipation Celebrations at Rita Francis Festiville.

It cost only one dollar per chance and Toney had purchased seven tickets.

After the owner of Tola Radio VI, Sloyd “Heritage” Burnett, had dialled a number and didn’t get through, he insisted that the person be given another chance only to realise that he was dialling the wrong number.

He then called the right one and roused the sleeping woman to inform her of the good news.

Speaking to the media moments after the drawing, Burnett said about 8,000 tickets were not sold at the time of the raffle but the show had to go on and patrons can expect something similar for the Christmas season.

The aim of this fundraising event was to aid in the transition of the internet based Tola Radio VI’s move to FM Stereo and to assist five charitable organisations.

It is very commendable that BVI Charities will benefit, but can someone please say who the Charities are? That would have surely prompted people to buy more tickets in support of them
