SEA COWS’ BAY, Tortola, VI - “What this says is that we are renewing our confidence in the BVI as a destination. It’s a very substantial investment for us. We have great faith in the BVI for the future and I hope that I continue to be a property owner here for many years to come” said Chairman and Principal Shareholder of Nanny Cay Mr Cameron McColl.

He was speaking with Virgin Islands News Online last night July 23, 2014 following a brief interaction with persons who turned up to a public meeting called by the Town and Country Planning Department of the Virgin Islands (VI) Government to discuss the expansion of Nanny Cay.

Mr McColl said that he was very pleased with the response that he has been getting from the general public.

Among those present at the meeting was Third District Representative Honourable Julian Fraser, RA who has expressed high optimism about the project and said that it stands not only to benefit his District but for the greater part Tortola and the Territory as a whole.

“You know that he is not shooting in the dark… it is a viable investment,” said Hon Fraser. “I am very optimistic, positive, happy, happy to see that there is still interest in my District,” added Hon Fraser.

The approved phase of the expansion according to Mr McColl is designed to create an additional 130 slips to the Marina at Nanny Cay with de-water access for yachts and additional land for real estate development.

Mr McColl said that all the additional buildings constructed have since been sold. “This is a subsequent phase where we are raising the bar even higher in terms of the quality of what we have been building and the level of refinement and finish on these units,” he said.

The expansion will be starting in September of 2014 and once things go as planned he anticipates that the marina element and land will be completed within 12 months.

In approximately a year after the completion of the 1st phase McColl says that the second phase is likely to get going with the construction of the real estate on the land. “That would take approximately 12 months for it to be finished and ready for occupancy,” said Mr McColl.

What good is a public meeting if the deal is already done? And why don't people living in the vicinity have any say in the type of building going on- private or not? It impacts quality of life around the area as well (traffic, noise, etc). What Nanny Cay has done to the original site is not good. They filled in the natural lagoon and the condominiums are not necessarily eco-friendly what with the landfill etc. The architecture of the hotel is nice. Too bad that is not what the cruise ship landside will look like. But the density of Nanny Cay and lack of Public input is the issue.

See Julian Fraser the liberator good works coming to bear yet again just like his good works with Biwater.

It was Fraser who sorted out the nanny Cay ting now look some 15 years later more jobs for the BVI...Fraser understands long term planning and how to build a country and economy. Next election there is no other choice but to make Fraser the Premier.

Oh yea NDP must go and WILL they have killed the BVI and dry our treasury!

what with the big retaining wall, sidewalks, potential shopping malls and other marinas in the area, what kind of deal has Fraser made with nanny cay owner over the years? I bet there is fine print. I find this development too big for the site.

that was my point. what was the deal and was it made before town and country approved of it. AND if town and country approve of it because it was already anticipated by the minister? sounds like behind the doors deals.
