ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Friday afternoon scene at Village Cay Marina on June 19, 2015 was one of a crowded space as many turned out to get a firsthand look at the eleven young ladies who will be vying for the Miss BVI and Miss Jr BVI crowns respectively, as was first and accurately reported by Virgin Islands News Online.
The pageants, though launched at the same time, will be held on separate dates as part of Emancipation Festival 2015. Miss Jr BVI will be held on July 25, 2015 and Miss BVI on August 2, 2015, both at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium in Paraquita Bay.
Key to last evening’s activity was the revelation of the Popularity Contest, which will be decided by public voting through the mobile services of main sponsor CCT.
According to CCT, whose presence could not have been missed, “The vibe was definitely hot and judging from the presentations it’s definitely going to be two great shows. All are encouraged to come out and support the young ladies vying for the coveted titles on July 25 (Miss Jr BVI) and August 2 (Miss BVI). Who will be our next Miss Jr BVI and Miss BVI?”
Leading up to these two special nights, the general public will get an opportunity to have their say as to who should cart off one of the biggest prizes of the pageant- Miss Popularity. Powered by CCT this year, members of the general public can take their favorite contestant all the way to the win by casting their votes.
The contestants for Miss BVI are:

Voters may also get a chance to win prizes but, according to CCT, “Well CCT regrettably can’t let that out the bag just yet - but what they will say is – now is a great time to switch to CCT. If you’re considering prepaid service, CCT boasts twice the 4G Data plus unlimited calling options on no-contract plans. Join and text to vote for your contestant -- every text entry will become part of CCT’s Festival Promotion which will be announced in the coming weeks.”

Familiar faces for Miss BVI 2015!
- pageant to be launched tomorrow June 19, 2015, along with Miss Jr BVI
While the organising committees of the Miss BVI and Miss Jr BVI pageants are awaiting their launch tomorrow, June 19, 2015 to present the ladies who are expected to put on an ‘interesting’ competition and show, it’s no secret in some sections who the girls are and what is expected when they hit the stage on pageant night.
The dates for the pageants are not yet known, as organisers are not saying just yet, but persons close to the committee have confirmed that for the Miss BVI pageant six girls will stage a stiff competition. Four are said to be familiar faces in pageantry and two are newcomers to this level.
The six contestants, according to this news site’s informed and trusted sources, are Ciara M. Christian who hails from Virgin Gorda and had placed 1st runner up some years ago, Michelle Parsons who ran in 2012, Helina Hewlett, former Miss Teen BVI Ashellica Fahie, well known athlete Dominique A. M. Maloney and Adorya R. Baly.
Miss Jr BVI on shaky grounds
Sources have informed Virgin Islands News Online that the Miss Jr BVI Pageant, which will be the 2nd of such in its given fashion, is said to have been put at a disadvantage with the organisers receiving funds very late to kick start their ground work and other necessary early planning.
Added to that, persons have already started to drop out. One contestant pulled out late yesterday, leaving the number of contestants at 5.
Among those known to this news site are Shamoia Maduro, Kairah Moolenaar, Akeila Louis, Julissa Rodriguez-Turnbull and Rebecca Frett. Some of these contestants are said to have some level of experience in that they would have participated in pageants of some sort and/or fashion and other forms of on-stage show. Ms Frett, a student of the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS), is said to be the youngest of the bunch.
CCT will be playing a major role with the BVI Festival and Fairs Committee (BVIF&FC) this year.
Tomorrow’s pageant launch is set for 5:30pm at Village Cay.
