ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Early this morning, as part of a covert operation, members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were able to locate and arrest a man who is wanted by the US Marshals for Murder.

J’wa Emone Charlery also known as “Balla” Charlery, 19 years, of the USVI, was last week described by the US Marshals as “armed and dangerous”. Intelligence suggested that he was laying low on Tortola, possibly being given sanctuary by local criminals.

Before dawn this morning, armed members of the RVIPF were able to detain Charlery, where he was camping in a tent in bush near Baugher’s Bay. He was quickly arrested and a large amount of cash and two loaded handguns were seized at the scene.

Charlery remains in custody awaiting a decision from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Deputy Commissioner Alwyn James of the RVIPF said “Thanks to the brave actions of our Officers, this armed and dangerous fugitive has been detained without any loss of life or injury; furthermore, two handguns have been removed from criminal circulation”.
