One injured in alleged gun play & beating at 'Guns and Chicken'
One man is reportedly seriously injured and had to be whisked off to Peebles Hospital following an alleged fight and gun play in Huntums Ghut last night, March 23, 2012.
The incident reportedly occurred at the night spot known as 'Guns and Chicken Hot Shot Bar. According to information reaching Virgin Islands News Online, a fight over a female reportedly resulted in "guns" being whipped out.
It was said that following an alleged incident in the club, a fight broke out in the street infront of the club and resulted in a man reportedly being beaten to the ground and to the state of appearing "lifeless".
"I heard about three or four shots lick out and there was this big street brawl," alleged a witness who also said that a man, who seemed to have been defenseless, was being dragged through the street as a number of men, some wielding guns, mercilessly beat him.
"From what I saw, the back of his head appeared to be all blood and he looked lifeless," the witness alleged.
The clubbing allegedly came to an abrupt end as the police and ambulance arrived on the scene to rush the injured man to the hospital. His condition has not been confirmed as of post time.
Several persons expressed concerns about the name of the club and said the Government's responsible Ministry should have the club closed or renamed. They also expressed concerns about the safety of patrons as it is usually extremely crammed with only one exit point. "When the Guns go into play its going to be madness in there, innocent people will get hurt."
The other concern was the safety of residents living in the area.
"All sorts of 'bad boys' being out there and we got our vehicles parked out there, our homes are at risk of break and enter all sorts of things," alleged a concerned resident.
Efforts to secure a comment from the owner of the bar as well as the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force's Public Relations Department were not successful.
