VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Mentor in the guidance and leadership programme Mentoring Anointed Leaders Everywhere (M.A.L.E.) Ms Kimberly M. George told this news site that a retreat for boys that took place on Friday February 20, 2015 and Saturday February 21, 2015 on the sister Island of Virgin Gorda was very successful.

“I believe that it was very successful based on the feedback we got from the boys on Virgin Gorda. The boys from Tortola had the opportunity to bond with boys [from] Virgin Gorda their age group and it was a time of fellowship and fun and they learned all about time management, respect for others and those sorts of things,” said George speaking to this news site yesterday.

She noted that some of the mentors who hail from Virgin Gorda were able to give motivational speeches to the boys and told them of their experience growing up in Virgin Gorda.

George explained that the role of the mentorship is important to the boys since many of them do not have a male figure in their life as a father figure. “What we are trying to do is get these boys to realise that there are men out there who love them and who want the best for them,” she said.

“We are going to continue to work with them in the future…right now we are planning for the boys in Virgin Gorda to go down to Tortola the first Sunday in March (March 1, 2015) where we are going to have a church service at the New Life Baptist Church,” said George.

She said that it is hoped the camaraderie that has developed among all the boys will be kept up.

“They made new friends, they learnt a lot from [each other]. There was no division, they came as one. They respected each other, they looked out for each other, they sat with each other, they read scriptures, they had devotion…it was just a time bonding with each other. I think these boys realise that you can have good and clean fun and you can do good whether somebody or nobody is watching at all,” she said.

M.A.L.E. to hold retreat on VG

-Boys from Tortola and Virgin Gorda to be coached on the topic of time management

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The youth leadership programme Mentoring Anointed Leaders Everywhere (M.A.L.E.) will be heading to Virgin Gorda for an overnight retreat on Friday February 20, 2015 to discuss the issue of time management as the organization continues to mold young minds, said Pastor Henderson K. Tittle in an interview with this news site.

Pastor Tittle said that it will also be an opportunity for the boys from Tortola to meet their counterparts on the Sister Island of Virgin Gorda.

“On Friday afternoon we are going to Virgin Gorda. I am taking 25 boys from here and we are going to meet 20 boys from there and we are going to have our first retreat and the focus is on time management,” he said, speaking to this news site yesterday February 17, 2015.

“We will be at the Bregado Flax Educational Centre – Primary Division. We have 25 boys from Tortola and five mentors and we will be meeting with 20 boys from Virgin Gorda with four mentors,” he said.

“The focus of the retreat is time management and hopefully at the end of the retreat, each boy will be presented with a wristwatch so that they could start to manage their time properly,” he said.

He said that the age group of the boys going on the retreat would be from 12 to 17 years old.

Over the past months, M.A.L.E. has been mentoring young men on various areas and in various life skills, such as preparing meals, setting a table, how to treat members of the opposite sex and has also been assisting in academic studies and rewarding members who perform well in school.

If you don't have anything good to say, don't say nothing at all. Your negative vibes is not needed at this time.
