UPDATE: J'Khoy & Afyah Frett were crowd favourites for crowns
For sure they did not disappoint and before long they were recognized as the ‘star cousins’ from the sister island of Virgin Gorda.
In almost all the categories that they took to the stage in, they were entertaining and impressive. This saw them walking away with five top prizes in addition to the crowns at the end of the night. They were judged the most photogenic couple, Prince and Princess Popularity, best introductory dance, best cultural wear and best evening wear.
Their competitors were also no doubt forces to reckon with as all the couples had impressive performances and presentations from the beginning to the end of the competition. They all had unique performances for all the categories namely introduction, cultural wear, cartoon character wear, talent and evening wear.
For the first time in the history of the Prince and Princess show Anegada was represented and the couple making the debut appearance were Javier and Javiola Hodge. They added to the testimony that great talent resides on the shores of the sister islands. The couple beat four others to take the fourth place prize.
The others who were no doubt impressive to the point of claiming winning prestigious prizes were First Runners up contestants #6 T'Jani Clarke and Shannia Prescott who got prizes for best cartoon character and best talent. Couple#8 D'Maine Cupid and Brianna Blyden won the prize for best introduction and they were judge as Second Runners up.
The show which got started shortly after 4:00pm, one hours shy of the set time, concluded just about 10:00pm and with the auditorium being as jam packed as it was with a great show by the little couples mixed with some entertainment pieces. It was yet another year that some titled, “Prince and Princess show and audience Fanning competition”.
They were so in order with the “Fanning competition” as from the moment one entered the building they had no choice but to be in fanning mode. Persons complained that for yet another year the activity which sees the largest turnout of children for Festival was held in the Rupert Briercliffe Hall where the old issue of a broken air conditioning unit prevails unto today.

From the time I saw one of the tabulators put up his hand with 4 fingers motioning to a lady in the front row while the show was on the first segment I knew the show was f..ed. But what was truly worst besides the ..eating was seeing the crying of those kids after the show. If you going to c..at why bother with a show?
However, it is unfortunate that the show was not fairly judged ( yes, I expect the majority to think it was fair , after all couple # 4 won popularity , so the majority expected or wanted them to win and it worked in there favour and ). The show was not judged based on the criterias for each segment, but rather on popularity ( judges fed of fans ). If the show was fairly judged the following would have been the out come:
-Best Introduction - #8 - Clarity, poise gave them the edge @ Bug Cheat ...you are funny
-Best Cultural - #4 - creativity gave them the edge
-Best Talent - 6 - They worked together (non was carrying the other) and title portrayal and unity gave them the edge @ Bug cheat ..again you funny...
-Best Cartoon Wear - # 8 - Although they experience technical difficulties , they pulled it of.. facial .expression, clothes colour /coordination and creativity gave them the edge a ( but this could be rightfully given to them because it would have "upset" the desired end result)
-Best evening Wear - # 8 - Poise and modelling technique gave them the edge. ( This also could not have been rightfully given to them because it would have "upset' the desired end result)
3rd runner up #3
2nd Runner up#4
1st Runner up#6
2014 Prince and Princess #8
Now, this post will anger most persons ( especially VG massive... lol) because , as I said #4 got popularity , which they rightfully deserve and most persons were routing for them. They were also a little cute couple, so they had that going for them and they did a good , but , based on the segment judging criteria, I can't see how they won the show , if it was fairly judged.
My advice to the committee is to ensure a proper pool of judges is selected the next time around. We cannot have personal friends and family members as judges, they are only human and may not know how to separate their relationship and be objective ( which was demonstrated in this case) . It is also a conflict of interest.
All that being said, the judges decision is final and I wish all winners well.
If everyone had to give their opinion THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR JUDGES.
DO NOT and I REPEAT DO NOT take away from the joy and esteem that the 2014 Prince and Princess have gained from their crowning. DO NOT take away from their moment.
You're entitled to your opinion but FRANKLY NO-ONE CARES FOR IT! We, the people of the Virgin Islands embrace the new Prince and Princess and ENCOURAGE them in their reign.
I won't waste anymore time responding to your ignorance since I'm not the jackarse whisperer.
Now a word of wisdom to the committee. The committee needs to think seriously about the venue for future shows. The cultural center is not a venue for a summer show in the current state. The place is simply too hot. In the heat of summer you are announcing a show for 3:00pm?!!! And on top of that the show started an hour late. So just imagine sitting in this oven from minutes to 3 until after 10:00pm. Completely inconsiderate. The committee needs to think about how you could have 8 couples for a 5 segment event and on top of that add entertainment and intermittent. I don't know about anyone else but I was completely drained to the point where it would take a lot for me to attend another one of this pageant. It was my first and my last. Unless me son is a contestant in one of them I would not be going back. This is a show involving primary school age and to have these children in a environment (hot) for that length of time I think Wes simply overbearing.
E...tt runs the bar at the cultural centre; therefore, the venue will not be changing anytime soon!
@they cheated: Try go sit down --somewhere.
THIS IS IT PEOPLE JUST CAN UNDERSTAND HOW VG MASSIVE COULD GO TOLA AND TAKE EVERYTHING FROM THE SHOW BUT THATS WE VG WE LIKE IT ALL. AND WE COMIMG AGAIN FOR THE QUEEN SHOW WE TAKING IT AND ALSO FOR CALYPSO SHOW WE TAKING THE CROWN, SO A YOU JUST MOVE A SIDE WHILE WE TAKE OUR CROWN THEM
ALSO THE JUDGES GRADED ACCORDING TO WHO WAS MOST POPULAR NOT BY PRESENTATION
