UPDATE: ‘I want an Anegadian representing Anegada’ –resident

-refers to the seeming neglect of Anegada as a ‘BVI Apartheid system’
Speaking at a Ready Committee meeting held in the Emile E. Dunlop Community Centre in Anegada yesterday April 19, 2015, the man said that he was disappointed with both the Virgin Islands Party and the National Democratic Party regarding where Anegada is today. “Anegada is still struggling behind because once elected you are forgotten. We never had a real serious candidate who ever come back and look at us once in office,” said the resident of Anegada who gave his name as Don Vanterpool. Photo: VINO

SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI – A resident of Anegada, VI, said that he wants to see an Anegadian representing that island as he believes this would be the only way for it to get the kind of attention it needs.

“I am not the kind of man to bite my tongue to please nobody,” he said. “Anegada, Jost van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, Salt Island…we are always being left behind and we are too stupid to see what is going on,” he said.

Anegada a ‘BVI Apartheid system’

“The way they treat Anegadians is nothing but a BVI apartheid system. You have two policemen stationed here, you have two jail cells but you don’t have a doctor for my people,” he said.

“It seems to me that the elected officials of the BVI are nothing but a set of political vultures on the hunt to devour our God-given inheritance and to leave in their trail a skeleton of fraud. My question is why do they cultivate, nourish and pursue a vain illusion without a concept of how to obtain such aspirations,” he said.

Claiming that things are happening which the politicians overlook, he said, “Why yall never come and tell we that 30 percent of lands has been set aside for national parks? Then you guys going come here…and think that we going vote for you when you’re not even standing up for our basic, God given inheritance?”

Anegada lands for Anegadians- Hon Fraser RA

To the man’s claims, Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) said the lands in Anegada are for the people of Anegada. “The Government is merely custodians of that land and they are supposed to make sure that it is distributed equitably to the people of Anegada.

Regarding the perception that the man shared about Anegada being left behind, Honourable Fraser said, “I share [the same] perception, which is reality as to how the people are looked and treated.”

He expressed the belief that Anegada should have its own representative but this would need an expansion of the House of Assembly in terms of its members. “Give Anegada its own representative and give Jost van Dyke its own representative,” he said.

Listen up VIP Congress, as a ninth district voter, please nominate Mrs. Stephanie Faulkner-Williams as one of the Territorial At-Large Candidates on the VIP Ticket for this upcoming general election. She is more than capable and she has my vote.
    • @Realist (19/04/2015, 16:17) Like (13) Dislike (5) Reply
Since I know about voting the Territorial At-Large Candidate is more a popularity contest and as much as I like Stephanie, she is not as known as the other candidates on NDP but she is a much better pick than the ole father man on the front covering up he face.

If VIP have a seat to waste or loose well they will put him but I don't think they can afford such at this stage.

You are out of place calling people Ole father. That is why you campaign to get to know the candidates but you d*mn people think this thing is a fr**ging popularity contest where people's livihood is at stake. I would NOT vote for no NDP at large especially Myr*n as he is too ar**g**t. He has done some good in the three years but at the end of the day, humility goes a long way. I will say this again, if she is nominated, she will definitely get my vote.

So although he has done good, because you don't like him personally (not popular with you) you ain't voting for him? Hypocritical. You just complain that people voting based on popularity but you voting based on the same thing.
          • Realist (20/04/2015, 08:46) Like (3) Dislike (2) Reply
It is not being hypocrital, I am just stating the obvious. As much as some people complained about the lack of representation by Hon. O'Neal in recent years, he always remained humble. Once people know you care and are passionate, you will go a long way in political life believe it or not. When Hon. Walwyn complains about the Media which I feel is unprecedented, it goes to show you are not build for this. He is too thin-skinned and that's my view of him. I'm done.

Despite I am not a fan of Fraser, but the VIP with him are the best at handling our affairs... Most of the voters think they are the best choice we have at this time for if the NDP retun it will only push this country back to the 80′s N 90′s.

After 30 years the VIP has a proven track record that they can get the job done.

The above have clearly demonstrated that the VIP has begun to take the needed steps to ensure our victory at the polls.

If the UK wanted to take over in an NDP Government rulership, they would have done so already. It is being said if the other party gets in for this upcoming election, UK coming for us. I will vote NDP. I am taking no chance.

It is embarrassing but we need to admit it and deal with it: For the past 20 years the politicians have created a two BVI society. One that is for the politicians, and one that is for everyone else. Nothing will ever change until citizens change the type of people they elect to represent them. It's just that simple.
