UPDATE: Horse racing card postponed yet again at Ellis Thomas Downs
The races, which are part of the VI Horse Owners Association's calender of events, were originally set for Sunday, September 30, 2012 but was then pushed back to October 7, 2012.
But President of the VI Horse Owners Association, Lesmore Smith, told Virgin Islands News Online today October 2, 2012 that the races have been called off since participation from St. Thomas, USVI, was not forthcoming.
Mr. Smith added that the horse owners association in St. Thomas had informed him that they would not have been able to fully participate since most of its members had already obgligated themselves to another "function".
He once again said he wished to apologise to the public.
Asked about a possible new date, Mr. Smith said he could not give a date at this time.
The exact reason for the race card being cancelled the first time is still not clear since Mr. Smith had only said “As a result of a meeting with horse owners, which just concluded, the race will be cancelled. I have nothing else to say but to apologise to the public”, when contacted.

I hear a rumour that when our Cricket stadium is finally built it will be officially open by Viv Richards - I bet you all can't wait for that. What a paaaarty! And so many girls will be there. Not like fleabag racing which attracts 4 or 5 people with an average age of 63 1/2
Oh Cricket, Lovely Cricket! It will soon be gracing our shores big time!
