UPDATE: FSN welcomes DeCrew's donation
DeCrew, a group of Guyanese residing in the Virgin Islands, pledged and donated proceeds from their Sunday March 5, 2017 promotional car sound clash, bar-b-q and lime to FSN. The undisclosed sum was handed over to the FSN on Thursday March 9, 2017.
Responding to the gesture, FSN said, "Your contribution will benefit the less fortunate in our community. Because of you we are able to continue to put food on the tables of many family members, and for that we graciously thank you."
"Time and time again the clients who received the food items continually express their gratitude. Some have even started donating when they have overcome their unfortunate circumstances. There is no way to fully express our gratitude for your contribution. We at Family Support Network are continually inspired by the dedication and generosity of organizations like yours who answer the call to assist us."
DeCrew donates to a choice charity annually.

Sound clash ushers in national holiday
- Nicholas A. Alphonso aka Nikko wins sound clash
With today, March 6, 2017 being celebrated as Hamilton Lavity Stoutt Day, persons from around the Caribbean came together in one place to usher in the day in recognition of the territory’s hero with a Bar-B-Q Car Sound Clash and Lime on March 5, 2017.
The event, now recognised as one of the most popular social events around this time of year, attracted hundreds to the parking lot of Island Sizzle, formerly known as D-Spot in Baughers Bay.
It was promoted by DCrew, a group of Guyanese residing in the Virgin Islands.
Aside from the food, drinks and heavy feting by the many people of the VI, big was the staging of the annual car show dominated by the "Street Kings" group. They ‘sound clashed’ amongst themselves to see who had the most powerful sound system and at the end of it Nicholas A. Alphonso aka "Nikko" walked away with the coveted prize.
"We look forward to this event every year not only to win the money but we all come as one and celebrate and that's so nice but I am glad to win this year," commented Alphonso.
Meanwhile, the men responsible for the annual event- Rayon Bethune and Sherwin Peters- were in high praise of their sponsors, especially Digicel, who came through to ensure the event was a success again.
"Everyone who came out were very happy to have a good time. We put in early planning annually to ensure it comes off with a standard," said Bethune.
According to Peters, "The BVI is our home and we do this to celebrate with our brothers and sisters who are from here and around the Caribbean."
Every year DCrew donates to a local charity following the promotion. The recipient this year will be Family Support Network (FSN).
