UPDATE - Evans pleads guilty to thieving Gucci chains
However, he pleaded not guilty to robbery. In light of this, the Crown offered no evidence to the robbery charge and he will be sentenced on March 30, 2012. His lawyer, Richard Rowe asked for Evans' bail be continued until that date.
Meanwhile, his alleged accomplice, Deshawn Matthew, has maintained his innocence and will stand trial this afternoon.
According to the Crown, Evans and Matthew allegedly committed the acts on a tourist while he was walking in the Baughers Bay community on December 4, 2010. The jewellery worth $2, 200, was subsequently recovered.
The duo, who is on bail, have legal representation. They are also on $25,000 bail with one signed surety each.Justice Rita Olivetti will preside over the trial.
