UPDATE: ‘English’s death a total shock’ - Relatives
Martin was found lying on the floor of his bar named ‘Pirates Hideout’ in Purcell in the vicinity of One Mart Supa store yesterday Monday March 17, 2014. He was lying on the floor on his back and was at first believed to have been asleep.
Martin was 42 years old and just under three months away from his 43rd birthday.
Speaking exclusively with Virgin Islands News Online close relatives of the 42 year old man said that they were all in a state of shock and disbelief. One sister said that she had spent time with her brother sometime around 12:30pm on Sunday as he was busy cleaning the interior of the bar.
“We were really, really shocked… English was a very upbeat person, very jovial, he was a very good brother and will be really missed especially by his kids,” said the sister. She said that he has been a tremendous father to his five children Tyrelle the oldest, Alurer, Ashaun, Moni and Monisha.
According to other relatives Martin was very fond of his children and made special effort to spend time with them. “He loved the internet, he love surfing the internet for new and old things he spent a lot of time on the internet,” one relatives who also described him as a very business oriented person.
“He always busy trying to do some business, he loved cooking, shopping and was very much into cars and bikes,” said a relative.
Currently the family is awaiting word from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) about arrangements for autopsy as the body is in the custody of the Police.

Man found dead in Bar
PURCELL, Tortola, VI – A man identified as Wilford Martin also known as 'English' believed to be in his early 40s was earlier today (Monday, March 17, 2014) found dead in a bar called Pirates Hideout in Purcell.
The man, believed to be the owner of the bar, was found inside the establishment by an employee of the business who had gone to open up, according to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online.
Speaking to this news site on the scene, the dead man’s brother said that he last saw Martin alive on Sunday morning (March 16, 2014) at Crystals night club.
According to eyewitnesses, from a nearby establishment, the bar was opened up today by a female to allow another female said to be the bartender to enter the business place. The eyewitnesses said that the bartender was selling and tending to business as there were two customers present.
Reports said that Martin was discovered lying on the floor between the bar and the kitchen at around 11.58 am today. The bartender and the patrons soon after realized that he was not breathing and they summoned persons nearby in a bid to help resuscitate him before the Police were called in. Reports are that the person who opened the premises had left and up to post time had not returned.
Police as well as personnel from the Peebles Hospital are presently on the scene. More to come as details become available.
