UPDATE: Edmund Maduro back on air by popular demand!
"Lots of persons have been asking for the show. I meet people on the street all the time who say I miss you and ask when I am going to be back on. Up to yesterday (January 6, 2013) a mother and her two children came up to me and told me they miss me on tv," Mr Maduro said.
There had been speculation late last year that Mr. Maduro was “kicked off” the show because of his tendency to cut off callers who were not in support of his point of view on particular topics, however, Mr. Maduro, as well as owner of CBN Channel 51 Mr. Andrew Cox, had told Virgin Islands News Online that such was not the case.
Mr Maduro had even said he had a very good relationship with CBN Channel 51 and may return to the show in January.
Touching then on his habit of disconnecting callers, which has touched the nerves of many persons in the community, Mr. Maduro said he does it to protect the broadcasting station and his guests. “If I have a guest I treat them with ultimate respect because that is what I learned as a little child, that manners maketh man. And this is why you see I would cut off people when they try to be rude and the rest of it. They must respect law and order.”
He told Virgin Islands News Online that nothing has changed since then. "We cannot allow callers to cause the stations to be sued and so we must find a way of preventing that."
The show has been trimmed to one hour (7 P.M.-8 P.M. on Saturdays) but Mr Maduro is optimistic that popular demand will also see it going back to the regular two hours.
Criticised for being soft on the ruling Administration on his show allegedy because he was given a contract by it, Mr Maduro refuted this by saying "I deal with issues on my show...it shows how ignorant people are to make such statements. I had public disapproved of the cruise pier project because I felt the land belongs to the people."
Asked what were hs thoughts on the performance of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government so far, Mr Maduro said it was hard to say at this stage because the entire world was going through a recovery process. "I think we need to give this Government more time before we can make a proper assessment."

Manners maketh man! Edmund Maduro justifies tendency to cut callers
- Taking a break from CBN 51; Working on having own radio & TV stations
Controversial talk show host Edmund Maduro has decided to discontinue his talk show “BVI Forum” on CBN Channel 51 for the rest of the year.
There has been speculation that Mr. Maduro was “kicked off” the show because of his tendency to cut off callers who were not in support of his point of view on particular topics, however, Mr. Maduro, as well as owner of CBN Channel 51 Mr. Andrew Cox, told Virgin Islands News Online that such was not the case.
According to Mr Maduro, he has a very good relationship with CBN Channel 51 and may return to the show in January.
He also revealed to this news site that he was working on having his own radio and television stations and that his plans were receiving much support from members of the public.
Touching on his habit of disconnecting callers, which has touched the nerves of many persons in the community, Mr. Maduro said he does it to protect the broadcasting station and his guests. “If I have a guest I treat them with ultimate respect because that is what I learned as a little child, that manners maketh man. And this is why you see I would cut off people when they try to be rude and the rest of it. They must respect law and order.”
Getting his television and radio stations would not ultimately mean that callers would be able to have their way since, according to Mr. Maduro, as moderator he has a responsibility of protecting the image and rights of others especially guests on his show.
“So once I get my own TV station and radio station going we could cut off any nuisance who calls in to try to embarrass my guest or co-host, because manners maketh man, and I firmly believe that the constitution is clear that each of us has the right to freedom of expression but that right does not give us the right to abuse the rights of any other person...and that part of the constitution needs to be clearly understood. A lot of people call in on the talk shows, mine and others, and do not understand the responsibility of the host....and moderation means cutting off when is necessary because you cannot bring your station or your guest under disrespect or to face lawsuits.
In the meantime, Mr. Maduro is thinking of doing a show on October 20, 2012 on one of the local radio stations.
Earlier this year Mr Maduro was removed as the host of the television show 'Speak Your Mind' on JTV channel 55 and had expressed hurt over the way it was allegedly done. According to him, the show was cut off before wrap up time.
Before the show was cut, Maduro repeatedly cut off callers to the program when they began to criticise him and his co-host Courtney DeCastro.

Edmund is just a p!g he reminds me of Myron
I can't wait to hear you back on the radio, Edmund. I've always said you was one of the few talk shows where anyone-with or without education, lettered or not, well spoken or the hardly ever spoken type-could have called and voiced an opinion wihout all the hype and fanfare that so many other talk shows displayed.
Good Luck in your endeavours.
