UPDATE: Duo arrested in wanted man's murder
TUTU, St Thomas, USVI - Less than 48 hours after Kenroy Davis was shot and killed near building 14 in Tutu Housing Community, police arrested two men on charges of first-degree murder.
Police responding to a report of shots fired Tuesday night found Davis with multiple gunshot wounds to his body at 9:30 p.m. in a parking lot. A minor female was also shot in the back, according to detectives from the Major Crime Bureau. She was taken by ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Arrested and charged with the 21year-old Akeel Owens and 19 year-old La’Mar Richardson, both of the Tutu Hi-Rise Housing Community, according to a statement from the Intelligence and Major Crime units of the V.I. Police Department.
Superior Court Judge Kathleen McKay issued the arrest warrant less than 24 hours after the murder. The warrant sets bail for the pair at $1 million each.
According to investigators, Owens and Richardson were allegedly armed with illegal weapons that they used to shoot Davis and the 17-year-old female.
Davis was not from the Tutu housing community, according to a police source.
The pair were also charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of third-degree assault, eight counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and aiding and abetting.
Though arrests have been made, Major Crime detectives are still seeking the community’s assistance in providing additional information regarding the incident. Wanted man shot dead in St Thomas, USVI
TUTU, St Thomas, USVI – Police in St Thomas, USVI are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a wanted man who was shot and killed in the Tutu housing community on Tuesday night.
Kenroy Davis, 28, who was wanted locally in connection with a stolen vehicle, was shot dead while a minor female was wounded, the V.I. Police Department told the St Thomas Source.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) had issued a wanted bulletin for the man who was last seen on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 driving a stolen vehicle near Scatliffe Alley by officers of the Criminal Investigations Department.
Upon being approached by officers, he allegedly fled. The vehicle, which was left at the scene, was positively identified by its owner who had reported it missing on June 6.
Davis was described as 5’7 tall, 130 pounds and dark in complexion.
According to detectives from the Major Crime Bureau in St Thomas, officers responding to a report of shots fired found Kenroy Davis in the vicinity of Building 14 unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his body.
It was the fourth homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the ninth in the Territory.
Police had been called to the scene of the shooting just before 9:30 p.m. Davis was found in the parking lot and the minor female victim, with a gunshot injury on her lower back, was also located in the same area.
The female was taken by ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Officers investigating the crime said Davis may have been involved in an altercation before being shot. Major Crime Detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in providing information regarding the incident.
