‘Talk Done’ stamps supremacy in playoffs of Hon. Julian Fraser league

- Collins leads Avengers to rout of Game Boyz

Talk Done displayed just why they are above other teams in the Hon. Julian Fraser/Save the Seed Intermediate basketball league as they shot own Top Shottas 72-67 when the playoffs got underway at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duffs Bottom this past Saturday, October 12, 2013.

The four point difference in the final score was far less intimidating than what was reflected earlier in the game though, as Top Shottas trailed by as little as ten points for the better part of the game and struggled to come to grips with the fast paced offence and disciplined defence exhibited by Talk Done.

In front of a packed house, Talk Done’s Kevon Lettsome led his team’s scoring with 20 points and was supported with 12 points from Clint Lettsome, who also threw in an amazing 15 assists.

Meanwhile, Al Leonard poured in 15 points for Top Shottas and also had 12 boards and 8 assists. Jason ‘Lucky’ Dudley netted 12 points to his team’s effort in a losing cause.

Talk Done’s supremacy in the game was almost undone by a late surge from Top Shottas who managed to narrow the gap in the fourth quarter with back to back 3-pointers from Ephraim Gordon in the closing minutes.

In the preceding game, Shaheed Collins’ near triple double powered the ever-hungry Avengers to a whopping 84-64 rout of Game Boyz, who failed to make much of an impression on the game.

Collins was the Avengers’ standard bearer with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists; more than ten points ahead of James Stoutt and Gavin Frett who contributed 19 and 17 points respectively. Frett also grabbed 10 rebounds to go with Stoutt’s 11 assists and Collins’ 10 assists.

Terry Charles led Game Boyz with 18 buckets while Jubal Jones had 16 points and Shaquille Fonseca had 11 points in a frustrating outing.

Earlier, Shamou Dagou led Ruff House to a six-point win over the Knights with 25 points. Roger Farrington (19); Ashield Frett (18); and Keshawn Fahie (18) also contributed to the 89-83 victory in the first of three games on Saturday.

Jevorn Serrant with 20 points and Dwayne Jennings 17 and Nigel Todman 11 also contributed as the Knights were literally roughed up in a clearly disappointing loss.
