Myett’s to host cruisers' buccaneer bash on Jan 31
-Eric Stone Band, Brian Neal slated to perform
CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI – Myett’s in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola will be hosting a cruisers' party on January 31, 2015 on the beach and in the gazebo and some popular names among the boating and surfing community will be there to bring the entertainment to a climax.
With a view to learning more of the event and what is in store for boaters and surfers, Virgin Islands News Online spoke to co-owner of Myett’s Valerie Rhymer.
“…we expect a lot of people to attend. We are bringing in one of the famous artists…the Eric Stone Band. He has lots of his own CDs…We are also bringing in Brian Neal who is a frequent performer at Myett’s. He does Sounds of the Tropics, he also has lots of his own CDs, he’s written our theme song ‘Myett’s’ and he is very popular with the sailing community and with locals,” Rhymer said.
“We will Bryan Neal outside at 7:00 PM down on the beach by our beach bar and then we will have Eric Stone on stage from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM,” she said.
“Then we will have the Evolution Band, Tortola’s own local band, from 9:00 PM on,” Rhymer said.
She said that Eric Stone will also be playing at Myett’s on February 2 and 4, 2015.
“We will be offering a Caribbean style barbeque for the evening, we will have drinks specials, there will be some prizes given out. It’s kind of a buccaneer beach bash,” she said.
“It is the first annual cruisers’ party and it is being sponsored by Tradewinds Radio, the sound of the Tropics, 92.3 FM…..and Cruising Outpost, a sailing magazine that used to be called Attitudes and Latitudes,” she said.
She said that both of these entities, the sailing magazine and the radio station have primarily sailors and cruisers as their audience.
“There obviously are a lot of people on the island who listen to this radio station because they play sounds of the Tropics. So they play a lot of great music,” she said.
“Our slogan at Myett’s is, ‘The beat goes on’ because we’re always having live music. So we’re constantly bringing in bands…we had the legendary Chris Cline band here last weekend and we the legendary Mitch Woods who does the boogie woogie style coming this week and he will be playing the next week as well,” said Rhymer.
The event’s sponsors are Myett’s, Tradewinds Radio 92.3 FM, Channel 51, Cruising Outpost Magazine, Southern Trades, Charter Port BVI, Zingarra Silhouette 76, Fly BVI, Ocean Potion, Mount Gay Rum, Jerry’s Car Rental, Little Harbour Marina.
