UPDATE: Cliff Creque had ‘beef’ with cousin of witness- Court told

Dwayne Lennard, the second witness to testify in the trial of Cliff Creque who is accused of firing shots at the witness and two others on October 20, 2013, told the High Court that one of his cousins, Brian, had a fight with the accused the night prior to the incident in question.

Testimony in the trial got underway today, starting with Police Officer Lesroy Simmond who told the court that he arrived on the scene sometime after 4pm on the day in question where he retrieved two spent shell casings, took photographs and later finger prints of the objects found.

However, it was witness Dwayne Lennard who provided the court with evidence about the actual incident. He told the court that on the day in question he was heading home when he heard a gunshot in a yard.

The witness told the court at the sound of the first shot he didn’t take it for anything serious but upon being told something by a man on the side of the road and looking around he allegedly saw the accused with a gun in his hand. Lennard alleged that Creque fired off two more rounds.

According to the witness, he recalled seeing the defendant with what looked like a black object that appeared to be a gun.

Lennard said he had no known problem with the defendant.

The accused then recalled seeing Creque at a night spot the previous night. According to the witness, he was in the company of several cousins, including one named Brian.

When asked if he knew of any problem between Brian and Creque, the witness alleged that the only ‘beef’ he knew was that the two were involved in a fight at a dance.

Presiding over the case is Justice Vicki Ann Ellis. The prosecution is being led by Crown Counsels Mr Herbert Potter and Ms Leslie-Ann Faulkner. The defendant is represented by Attorney at Law Mr Stephen R. Daniels.

Cliff Creque to face High Court trial tomorrow

‎Exactly two years after he allegedly committed an act of illegally using a firearm, Virgin Gorda resident Cliff Creque is set to face trial in the High Court tomorrow October 20, 2015.

The charge against Creque is possession of firearm with intent to cause harm as allegedly occasioned on October 20, 2013 on the sister island of Virgin Gorda.

‎The incident is believed to have stemmed from a fight where Creque was allegedly beaten at Mine Shaft in Valley, Virgin Gorda.

He reportedly had to be treated at the Iris O'Neal Clinic for injuries to his head.

According to reports, it was at least two hours after the fight ‎ that Creque, at Crabb Hill Road, Virgin Gorda, allegedly opened fire at a group which had persons allegedly involved in the fight hours earlier.

Persons in the group reported the shooting incident to the police who subsequently found spent shells in the area. Creque was later charged for the offense.

Creque's trial falls on the heels of the trial of Alberto Rosa De La Rosa aka Pi Yoya, who was found guilty of manslaughter on Friday October 16, 2015.

As the jurors were thanked and discharged for De La Rosa’s trial, they were informed by Justice Vicki Ann Ellis that they are to return on October 20, 2015 for possible selection for another trial. Justice Ellis, however, told the jurors she will decide whether or not they would be excused from the new trial if selected.

Right name go free. Why bother having a police force if the courts are just going to free them anyway. Let's do this get rid of police and courts and use that money for bigger hospital to handle all the future gun shot victims.
