VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – The Canadian tourist who lost his life on Virgin Gorda on Friday, December 20, 2019 was reportedly struck by a barge while in waters off Fishers Cove.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), in a press release on December 23, 2019, had only said 52 year old Zdenek Tesar died in a “marine incident”.

When contacted, the RVIPF declined to confirm or deny the reports but said the incident is being investigated with urgency.

Several persons on Virgin Gorda have confirmed the incident as involving the barge and the tourist.

The RVIPF had said in the press release that "The matter is currently under investigation and Mr Tesar’s wife is being kept updated on the progress of the police investigation."
