UPDATE: By-Election date changed to January 7, 2019

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Word reaching our newsroom from senior National Democratic Party (both wings) Members is that the By-Election date, has been re-scheduled from January 14, 2019, as was first reported by our newsroom and will now take place on January 7, 2019.

The Governor and Premier along with the Election Supervisor Ms Juliette Penn, have now had final consultations and has received advice from the Attorney General, Mr Baba Aziz.  

Therefore, our newsroom can now confirm that the By-Election to fill the vacant Fifth District seat will take place on January 7, 2019.

Lots of Candidates

The By-Election could see up to five political parties putting up Candidates, including Honourable Myron V. Walwyn's (AL) wing of the NDP, the Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton's (AL) breakaway wing, called the Virgin Islands Progressive Alliance (VIPA), the main Opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP), led by Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1), the Progressives United led by Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) and the United Party.

There is also expected to be a number of Independent Candidates.

      I could see you don't know the constitution... and general election isn't due as yet.... Myron is a boss watch this by election going show you all something...Ronnie and kendrick and no other ministers of government can form no other party while sitting in government... they just give Myron more power if the Ndp have failed as we all may think why break away and now come back to the people telling us to elect you and your party and the bunch a young foolish just come politicians running with them.... if the Ndp fail it simply mean all has fail joining a new party only say one thing we it turns bad you going turn your back on the people again...

    who fraser putting up...so many vying to run a broke country: if the country so broke how will these candidates fulfill their political promises: just curious because we need leadership with balls; men and women that will put our people first: give our people an opportunity to run their country(no disrespect to anyone)commissioner of Police: superintendent of prison: director of ports: attorney general: this wrong doing have to stop we need strong leadership

      True NDP supporters should not split their votes and vote for the sore losers...VIP would not split theirs! Let them plot... The nephew and a prominent supporter done gone VIP so I won't be surprised.

    House of Assembly should be fun tomorrow: within the current administration we have four political parties: Fahie have his crew: Fraser have his crew: Myron have his crew and Skeleton have his crew(this is a first in this territory)..under the current setting will any of the current 13 members of the house of assembly actually defend the interest of the people or seek to promote their personal agendas just to get votes

    NDP all the way.... all who resigned from the party is all the dead weight most of the Ndp ministers got in because of Myron strength he has been the highest vote getter for the last 2 elections and by a landslide so that speaks volume...knowing your constitution is key watch what will happen to Kendrick and Ronnie
