ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Alcedo Tyson aka Cedo has been found guilty for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Kwanna Todd-Rhymer aka Kay Kay. The jury returned the guilty verdict on June 24, 2013 in the High Court.

Following the announcement of the jury's decision, Justice Albert Redhead said any other verdict would have been "perverse". "You are an evil man," Justice Redhead told Tyson ina stern tone.

Sentencing has been set for July 12, 2013.

The expressionless Tyson stared at the relatives of Kwanna as he was being led away by law enforcers.

The tearful mother of Kwanna, Ms Mereen Mary Stoddard, told Virgin Islands News Online she felt justice was served. "I lost my daughter but today I feel that I have gotten some justice for her death." Several relatives and friends surrounded the still grieving mother.

Among those in the courtroom were Regional General Manager of Delta Petroleum Bevis Sylvester and more than a dozen of his staff members. Todd-Rhymer worked at Delta Patroleum at the time of her death. Mr Sylvester declined to comment to this news site but said he would rather wait for July 12, 2013 when the sentencing is expected.

Todd-Rhymer was found critically wounded in the CSY parking lot in Baughers Bay on the morning of March 16, 2012 and reportedly died before medical personnel arrived on the scene.

Tyson was the number one suspect in the shooting to death of the young woman and he had allegedly turned himself in to police.

Tyson’s attorney points to ‘glitches’ in evidence

- Crown Prosecutor Graham labels Tyson as “a cold blooded murderer”

The lawyer for murder accused Alcedo Tyson spent most of his time in the High Court this morning, June 24, 2013 seeking to establish discrepancies giving in evidence by eye witnesses about the lighting of the area where the alleged murder occurred and witnesses ability to see what they said they saw.

Mr Patrick Thompson also rode on the false statement one witness had given police when she had stated that she had hidden in nearby bushes and but later said that she didn't but had gotten into the back of a vehicle.

Tyson is being tried for the murder of Kwanna Todd-Rhymer aka Kay Kay, who was found critically wound in the CSY parking lot in Baughers Bay on the morning of March 16, 2012. Todd-Rhymer reportedly died before medical personnel arrived on the scene.

The crown is being represented by Senior Crown Councils Valston Graham and Leslie Ann Faulkner while the defence is being represented by attorney-at-law Mr Patrick Thompson.

During the trial the crown had called 12 witnesses, 3 of which were allegedly direct eyewitnesses. During his deliberations this morning June 24, 2013, Graham sought to especially establish the authenticity of the evidence led by the alleged eyewitnesses. He described Tyson as a cold blooded murderer.

Graham told the court that should the jury choose to reject the evidence given by especially the three eye witness, "We might as well all walk through the door now," adding that all that was necessary on the jurors' part were common sense and reasoning power.

He alluded to the extended time Tyson allegedly spent in one position, over 40 minutes, which Graham described as him taking as "real estate" position while in the Deuces nightclub and asserted that one could draw the conclusion that Tyson was staying focussed on Kwanna's movements.

Graham said that based on a message that was found on a mobile phone allegedly belonging to Tyson, one of the last things Ms Todd-Rhymer did was to extend an act of kindness to Tyson by offering him a drink, which he refused. "How did he repay her? With a shot in the neck and one in her stomach."

He also recalled on witness recalling Tyson allegedly saying to Kay Kay "You think I does play."

Defence attorney Mr Thompson was very brief in his closing arguments this morning. He was interrupted on more than two occasions by Graham on allegations of deliberately attempting to mislead the jurors.

Thompson pointed out that a witness who had claimed Tyson was wearing long pants that night when indeed he was wearing a short pants. The attorney also spoke to the importance of DNA testing in the matter, something that was allegedly not done by the crown.

The jury’s decision is expected sometime today.

Deuces security guard was keeping ‘a close eye’ on Tyson

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The High Court heard yesterday, June 21, 2013 that a security guard on duty at the Deuces night club on March 16, 2012, was allegedly keeping a close eye on murder accused Alcedo Tyson.

The security guard told the jury that he was keep close tabs on the accused and had allegedly witnessed the shooting, which led to the death of Kwanna Todd-Rhymer on the morning of March 16, 2013.

The eyewitness told the court of the occasions that he had seen Tyson in and out of the nightclub that night. He alleged that when the first shot rang out he was on the balcony of the Deuces  nightclub and had allegedly positively seen Tyson stopped at Kay Kay, lifted his hand which had an object he recognised as a gun, and fired it.

He said he did not witness the actual firing of the second shot has he had turned to run and alert the DJ to stop the music when he heard a second “bang”.

He had also testified that while on the balcony looking at a friend of his driving out, he had noticed Tyson in the CSY parking lot taking something out of his vehicle.

"Then I went to the location where Kay was shot. She was lying on her back and I called her name and she was non-responsive," alleged the eyewitness.

He said that at the time Tyson could not be seen and he proceeded to make the initial 911 call.

Under cross examination by defence attorney, Mr Patrick Thompson, the security guard said that he has had no training as a security guard, police officer or in the procedures of security.

He said he had been working as a security guard at Deuces nightclub as a secondary job since October 2011. The cross examination is expected to continue today, June 21, 2013.

The crown had indicated that the security guard was their final witness.

This did not have to happen. The whole situation is so unfortunate. A daughter taken away a son ending his own future by most likely receiving life in prison.

Well at least the security guard had more common sense than Kay Kay two friends who testified. In his statement the security guard said, he went to Kay Kay aid and called out her name and dial 911, but her two friends did not mention going to look on her, but said they ran to their vehicles and went home to get a picture of the accused from a face book page to show the police. There is a big gap here. How long was it before they came back to where Kay Kay was lying bleeding?

when ppl are in shock from seeing their good friend shot, THEY DONT FIND THE KEYS TO THEIR VEHICLE...they are not rational to drive ALL THE WAY HOME to get a picture off of FACE BOOK to give police who already know who the hell ALCEDO IS.................Bullcrap!.................furthermore, many of us have a phone with facebook connected therefore wa was the sense on going home? Its best she had said she was scared for HER OWN LIFE so she ran...the Biotch quaked. SIMPLE.
Security does not have a cell phone? which I am sure he did SO WHY NOT CALL 911 right away? Why leave the balcony to find the dj which means he had to push his way through all dem ppl to get to the dj to say stop the music and explain y. BULLcrap.
No weapon found, no blood found, no bloody clothes found, no gun residue found WAS NOT EVEN CHECKED FOR, no bruises or marks found on him, he went to the station on his own 'not turning himself in for a crime but because his mom say police looking for him go see wa dem want...
Another thing, if I was being abused or stalked by a man, i was not going to no club knowing this man in the area. and on top of that, i was not going to text him asking 'so u refuse my drink'. wa call she have BUYING A DRINK in the first place for this man? Only God, Alcedo and the poor deceased knows why partna did this thing and he have to live with it for the rest of his life. Sure everyone suspects he killled her BUT IT HAS TO BE PROVEN IN COURT. partna could even get off from reasonable doubts. who knows.

You cannot say how anyone would react when someone pulls a gun in front of you and shoots a friend point blank. Most people would run in fear, in fact pretty much everyone would run for their lives. This young lady probably tore out of there in severe terror and distress. She probably realized as she was driving that her friend was back that dead or dying from two point blank gunshots. In her mind she did the best thing she could. Go get a photo of the murderer and return to the scene oif the crime. I'm certain that any criminal psychologist would agree that the first reaction of 99.9% of people would be to flee the scene. Your attempt to use a young ladies reaction to a terrifying and traumatizing event to claim your brother's innocence is weak. As for the security guard, have you ever been to Dueces? Where he was on the balcony and witnessed the first shot he had to proceed through the bar. He didn't walk calmly, he ran. He did the right thing in warning the people inside and stopping the music. What if this crazy gunman went inside and started shooting more people? Remember the guy turned and ran and while doing so he heard another shot. You make it sound like he calmly strolled to the DJ and never tried to call 911 or nothing. We all know that this would not be how anyone reacted to witnessing a murder. So please, go sit down with your conspiracy theories. This isn't a movie. This is true life, and human emotions. Your boy did kill KK and thank God the jury brought a quick and just verdict. They were smart enough to see the truth. Perhaps your brother can convince you to try and pull the wool over peoples eyes but the only stupid people around seem to be him for, 1) killing the young girl, 2) not pleading guilty, 3) not having any defense, 4) showing no remorse, and the others are his friend's who think it is better to stand behind a murderer than to use their friendship to talk him into doing the right thing.

Why all the rejoicing, a mother lost her daughter now a mother has lost her son to the prison. There are no winners in this. I have learnt a very long time, not to rejoice over someones downfall, cause you never know when yours is right around the corner. Ok he is Gulity as charged, before we hope that this young man repents from his wrong doings and hopefully finds the lord, you all rejoicing. Redhead says he is a Judge on earth calling this young man evil, BUT there is one ulimate judge, and he is in Heaven. Redhead I know you have a job to do but I really hope that you youreself is ready to be judged when you meet your maker.

It is sad that this man-child stole the life of the young lady and has no courage nor heart to say a word offering apologies and showing remorse. Not only does KK's family deserve to hear remorse and an explanation for his irreversible rage but his own family deserves it also. His one evil act has negatively impacted the lives of so many. We all know that Judge Redhead is going to throw the book at him on July 12th (and throw away the key at the same time). Let's only hope he can realize the importance of saving his soul and beg forgiveness of God through the act of doing right by both families.

Security guards are not policemen. they are not hired to serve and protect. They are not paid to risk their lives for a few dollars bouncing at some strip club. They will run from a gun just the same as you or me. And funny thought of some security guard having guns when even our police aren't armed.

I sure wish I was here on this court day cause these police be messin up big time and the witness story is utter nonsense because I personally kno one of the witness ran straight in a specific somebody yard after runnin up by bau bau gene laundry and callin the person so tell me how far is it from deuces to bau bau gene then to the said yard and why I kno the story she said didn't had Alcedo in it!!! In American you're innocent until proven guilty but here its the other way even with evidence that ain't addin up.....
