UPDATE: 2 vessels intercepted; suspected narcotics seized in waters off VG
“Three male suspects were detained on the vessels and Officers report that they have seized a quantity of what is believed to be narcotics. The vessels are currently being comprehensively searched for contraband and the three persons are in custody,” a press release issued by the RVIPF this morning, July 23, 2015 stated.
The RVIPF said the two vessels were intercepted by Officers in VI waters close to Virgin Gorda, late last night.
It also said no one was hurt during the operation.
Detective Chief Inspector Kath Adams of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force stated: “This is an excellent example of professional joint working between the BVI and the US law enforcement authorities; we look forward to our continued collaboration across Police, Customs and Immigration, helping to make the region a safer place”.

Police in late night operation @ Road Town marine base
There was reportedly a Marine Police operation this evening July 22, 2015 at the Police marine base, however the nature of the operation was not confirmed and up to post time further information on this was not available.
This news site was reliably informed that an operation involving the Marine Police and possibly other law enforcement arms of the government did take place.
When contacted a senior official from one such government agency said that he could not comment on the operation at the time.
"We cannot say anything about (the operation) at the moment...you have to give us a chance to do what we have to do," said the senior official to this news site.
It is unclear whether anyone has been taken into custody as a result of the operation.
Efforts to reach acting Public Relations Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Carl Mason for information on the operation proved futile.
