Small Business Week is being observed at the moment and Scotiabank invited UMI to showcase its plans for the business to patrons of the bank. 

During the showcase, customers were able to enter their names and that of their company to become eligible to win tickets to the upcoming events. 

UMI chose to give the bank a taste of its Corporate Programme promotion, which it will officially launch on October 15, 2012. The showcase gave businesses an opportunity to sign up between now and then to be selected as part of a programme for various businesses to be celebrated on a particular day. 

Manager of UMI Fashions, Deborah Reynolds-O’Neal, explained that the celebration allows for extended shopping hours for various companies so that they can shop as a group if preferred, early bird specials and 15% discount cards. In addition to this there will be a “Battle of the corps” ‘fashion off’. 

In the ‘fashion off’, companies will be pitted against each other every three months allowing their employees to compete against those of other companies by modelling in front of the store. 

At the end of the year there will be a big battle of the corps showdown where the top companies selected by the audience will come up against each other. 

In addition to this, she said, a programme called the Style Architects would be initiated within the Corporate promotion. When coming in to celebrate their day, companies would be able to choose a staff member that they are going to dress from clothing made available. 

There will be a panel of judges that will be deciding which company did the best in terms of putting the outfits together.

Companies are encouraged to select a fashion stylist from within their team to coordinate the dress that another staff member will be chosen to model.
