SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI – Virgin Gorda resident Tyrone Noble, who lost his life by drowning after the kayak he was in capsized in waters off Handsome Bay on April 4, 2013 was laid to rest on Saturday April 20, 2013.

The body of Mr Noble, 30, was recovered in waters off Handsome Bay, Virgin Gorda around 7 A.M. on April 5, 2013 by a search party consisting officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR). Reports are that the man and another person left on a fishing trip in a kayak around 5 P.M. on April 4, 2013. They reportedly encountered difficulties in rough waters and the kayak subsequently capsized.

Sources further informed this news site that the other person managed to swim ashore and alerted others about their plight, however, Noble never made it to shore.

Noble was laid to rest following funeral service at the Sanctuary of Hope New Testament Church of God, Valley, Virgin Gorda.

Meanwhile, two football matches were organised in memory of Noble on Sunday April 21, 2013 on Virgin Gorda. The deceased was said to have a passion for the game and also played for Sugar Boys Football Club.

Sugar Boys drew 3-3 with VG United in one of the games and then defeated a team of veteran footballers 4-3.

Noble was described as a very friendly person and his death was a shock to his community.

Speaking with Virgin Islands News Online on April 5, 2013 the man's mother-in-law, Sandra D. Harrigan, confirmed what several others had to say. "He was just a very friendly person. We use to call him taxi because he would just be picking up people [and] taking them where they wanted to go because he was such a people's person, so loving and caring about others," said Ms Harrigan.

Mr Noble lived with his wife Jacia N. Noble and their two children ages 6 and 2 years old. He had celebrated his 30th birth anniversary on Easter Monday and spent most of the day with his family and friends. "All day he was out there, [he] went to view the parade and everything," recalled a distraught Harrigan.

On Thursday April 4, 2013, sometime in the afternoon, Harrigan said that Noble called his wife to inform her that he was going fishing since she had not yet returned home from work. "But she used to tell him about going out there to fish, she use to talk to him against it all the time. Now look he drowned, he dead, this is so hard and so sad for us. We lost a very special person," she noted.

The woman expressed concern about Noble’s children, who are now without a biological father. "Those kids suspect something was wrong since yesterday because the big one kept asking questions and was very uneasy, they know that something was wrong."

This news site understands that Tyrone Noble did not know how to swim and his colleague had swam to shore to seek help but it was too late as Tyrone went under and could not have been found despite desperate search efforts that evening.
