ST AUGUSTINE, Trinidad & Tobago – Two players from the Virgin Islands attending the Digicel NBA Jumpstart Elite Basketball Clinic in Trinidad and Tobago have been selected among the final eight to attend an NBA game in the United States of America (USA).

Virgin Islands News Online has been informed by correspondents in the twin-island republic that D’Moi Hodge and Malachy Payne of the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) have been given the nod.

Hodge and Payne are part of the VI team that included fellow ESHS colleague Ajai Frett, Cory Flax Solomon of St George’s Secondary and Omar Walker of the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies. The five were accompanied by respected basketball player and coach Jason A. Edwin.

The Elite Camp took place from September 26-28, 2015 and was run by NBA Coaches, P.J. Carlesimo, Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues and Adonal Foyle.

According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, day two of the camp was highlighted by D’moi Hodge winning the Free Throw Shoot Out and inflicting a series of suicide runs on the other islands.

One shooter from each island was chosen to compete and much to the relief of the rest of the VI Boys, Hodge won the competition, meaning they could rest up and watch the rest of those islands represented run up and down the court.

However, it has not all been such fun and frivolity for the boys as they have been working hard to impress, asking searching questions and even cutting short lunch breaks to be with the NBA coaches P.J. Carlesimo, Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues and Adonal Foyle.

Digicel Ambassador Jason A Edwin, in an exclusive comment to Virgin islands News Online, said the boys were on top of their game and are really buying into the process of making new friends, networking and not only listening, but also learning from the experience.

The Elite Camp and camper trip to the United States to attend an NBA game will be shared with Digicel customers online, digitally and through mobile and will be broadcast on Digicel Sportsmax, which brings NBA fans closer to their favourite teams through its live coverage of the NBA season, which tips off October 27, 2015.

Rather than just congratulate the boys on their accomplishments you had to come with this negativity. But check it. Despite the barn we have here as you say, two of the boys made it proving that no matter the resources its about the talent!

What happened none of our players were selected on Road Town players recognized. That's an issue with me. Where was Wes in all this.

you a real idiot. Only the best was selected. it's obvious they didn't make the cut. I really don't see an issue. Be happy that these two made it this far.
