BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI - Information coming to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) is that at least two persons were rushed to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital last night, June 19, 2020, following a vehicular collision in Baughers Bay, Tortola.

While the details remain sketchy, police sources described the accident as "serious" and said the multiple vehicle collision occurred at the entry road to the New Testament Church of God sometime after 19:00hrs.

However, up to early afternoon today Saturday, the road was still cordoned off resulting in traffic east and westbound having to be diverted through longer routes.

Questioned on the reason for the traffic diversion, one eyewitness said he was told by police on the scene that there was a "very serious accident [and] you can't pass any time soon."

Sources said the 2 persons were taken to the hospital, however, the extent of their injuries is still unknown at this time.

Our news centre will bring more information it as becomes available.

Compare the percentage of deaths by motorbikes to deaths by other modes of transportations in the VI. You will have your answer as to why the former needs to be restricted.

A Suzuki Vitara passed me heading West End yesterday and I was praying that nothing was coming around the corner. The jeep actually passed vehicles around a corner and I was amazed. We have to pray on the road daily and hope that these reckless drivers do not take our life when we are taking our good time.
