ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- With eleven (11) days before the end of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, Tropical Storm Sebastien formed today, Tuesday, November 19, 2019.

The National Hurricane Centre upgraded Disturbance1/AL90 to a tropical storm.

According to the DDM, at 11:00am, November 19, 2019, the centre of Tropical Storm Sebastien was located near latitude 20.1 North, longitude 58.7 West or approximately 391 miles North East of the [British] Virgin Islands.

It said Sebastien is moving toward the north-northwest near 8 mph.

No threat

“A turn to the north is expected on Wednesday followed by a turn to the northeast and an increase in forward speed Wednesday night,” DDm stated.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles from the centre.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb.

Some slight strengthening is possible over the next day or so; however, Sebastien is expected to become absorbed by a cold front in a couple of days.

Based on Sebastien’s location and current movement the system is not expected to have any effect on the Territory, DDM stated.

This almost sounds like a Joke. Imaging a serious storm the last week before the end of the hurricane season... It's not a joke. Its serious... Did we ever had a serious storm this late in the hurricane season?
