ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Some local artists have come together to pay tribute to local musician Threcio G. Phillips, who transitioned to be with God on December 29, 2015 at the age of twenty eight, after a well fought battle with cancer.

Known to many for his exceptional musical ability, particularly on drums, Threcio touched many lives. This was accomplished not only through his talent, but also through his perseverance and positive character throughout his sickness. He played for a variety of musical groups in addition to drumming for the New Life Baptist Church. Threcio taught music to many children as well. His valiant fight with cancer was well known, and upon hearing of his passing, many of his musician friends, including artists, expressed a desire to pay tribute in song.

Born out of that desire, local musician and producer Brent Hoyte of Home Grown Studio produced the beat and developed the song concept along with Dylan Penn. The artists featured on the track include Sharie de Castro (a.k.a. Watchman), Aaron Parillion(a.k.a. King Jedi),McKenzie Baltimore(a.k.a. B’More), Kassandra Malone, DeAnna Wattley, Gabrielle Denae, Dylan Penn, Glendon Lamothe (a.k.a. NJAR) and Monique Chapdelaine. All have had some musical or other connection to Threcio over the course of his life.

“No one hesitated in accepting the challenge of creating this song. The positive spirit in the studio throughout the recording process truly shows the impact that Threcio had on all our lives,” commented Raul ‘Jougo’ Sprauve, owner of Home Grown Studio, as he reflected on the recording process.

“We just wanted to do our part and present it to the family to let them know that Threcio’s legacy will live on,” added Brent Hoyte.

The group noted that the title of the song, ‘Play On’ was selected to “emphasize the continuous impact of Threcio’s legacy on our lives. It signifies that we will continue to play, sing and perform in honour of him through God’s grace, and we will remain strong in our support for his family.”

Threcio’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at the New Life Baptist Church at Duff’s Bottom, Tortola on Saturday 16th January, 2016. The viewing will be from 9:00- 10:30 a.m. with the Service immediately following. A video accompanying the song will also be presented at the service. CDs will be available for purchase and proceeds will go towards an Education Fund for Threcio’s daughter Tishelle.
