Tourist dies while snorkelling off The Indians

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A 73 year-old male American tourist died yesterday Monday November 14, 2011 while he was snorkelling in the vicinity of The Indians, an uninhabited small archipelago of islets west of Norman Island, Virgin Islands News Online was informed.

According to head of the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR), Phil Aspinall, they received a distress call at 2:05 pm.

He added when VISAR turned up CPR was already being performed on a dive boat, and eventually the man was transferred to VISAR’s vessel where an ambulance was waiting on Tortola.

“....throughout the journey CPR was administered,” Aspinall added.

The incident, Aspinall disclosed occurred around 2 pm.

The man, who was on a chartered Moorings vessel, was here on vacation.

And though he was tight-lipped about the name of the individual, this news agency was able to ascertain the individual’s name to be Dennis Keller.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted at Peebles Hospital.

    Very sad. My condolences to his family and friends. Isn't "Denise" a woman's name? Did the paper mean to print "Dennis"? If so, is this the same Dennis Keller who was with DeVry Institute for many years?

    Our family knew Dennis. He was a nice an who was always happy to see you and full of life. He will be missed by his family, friends and neighbors. Our condolences to the Keller family.
