LEVERICK BAY, Virgin Gorda, VI- It was a who is who of the big power and high end boating sector, with all sizes, types and cost of boats, yachts and even a float tube in the mix to celebrate the 16th annual Leverick Bay Poker Run on May 28, 2017 on the sister island of Virgin Gorda.

There was a huge crowd of people from the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, St Maarten, Florida and of course the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), as both people and boats came from all those destinations.

In addition, the cameras, the ladies, the studs, along with helicopters, aircrafts and a few drones, as well as law enforcement boats, were out in mass to witness the biggest Poker Run ever, with close to some 300 boats.

In the crowd, there were a few celebrities including Premier and Minister of Tourism Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL), Government Ministers, other Legislators, and Belonger of the Virgin Islands Sir Richard C. N. Branson, the British billionaire.

The three top winners are?

Speaking only to Virgin Islands News Online on the results of the Leverick Bay Poker Run, organsier Nick R. Willis announced the winner and promised the public will have the full listing sometime tomorrow as today is his day off.

The boat that got first place was Team Baja with team powered by Stephanie Stevens. She walked away with $8000.00 cash.  Her boat was from Tortola.

Second place went to a St Thomas’ boat named Barracuda, powered by KT Zachery. He walked away with $5000.00 cash.

Third place was won by a St Maarten boat named Red Zone, and was powered by Team Moulinrouge, with Captain Karine Rosemond, who won $3000.00 cash.

Mr Willis told our newsroom that the event was a huge success as some $10,000 will be donated to the Virgin Gorda Charitable Trust, $1000.00 to a local athletic team and another $1000.00 to Animal Recuse.

We will follow up with more information, interviews and photos from the event, along with a more extensive exclusive interview with Mr Willis.

It wasn't 300 boats and how much of the loot will the owners keep?

They did not say 300 boats. The said close to is still a far way from being 300. Just like if you have 99 cent you don't have a dollar.

Even if it was 300 boats or 30 not everyone or boat pay to participate in the poker run. Each person has to buy in to play, and multiple people on a boat can buy a hand.
