ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – First District Representative Hon. Andrew A. Fahie is of the view that too many negotiations are being done by the current National Democratic Party (NDP) on behalf of the people without their knowledge.

“Too many negotiations on behalf of the people are being done by this administration without the people and whenever it surfaces, it always surfaces in a manner that is opposite to what they were telling the people all the time,” the opposition member said in an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online.

Hon Fahie also felt that these negotiations are usually not done in the people’s interests and sometimes put the territory in compromising positions.

According to the former Education Minister under the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government, these actions by the current administration transcend politics as well,

“Families are not going to be able to pay their mortgages, families are not going to be able to feed their children, the families now are becoming more and more out of work and while we can say it is the global downturn, when they go to the agencies seeking representation, they’re not getting the representation they may need to get.”

He stated that this is one message that will remain relevant, even as the government may at times ‘want to get at the messenger’ so that they could make the message seem irrelevant.

While noting that government cannot accomplish everything on its own, he argued that the things that the government of the day is capable of doing should be done to the best of their ability for the betterment of the people.

His recommendation was that the territory’s leaders needed to band together and represent the people as best as they could to navigate ‘storms that have us in uncharted waters’.

“A country that has three things, a strong faith in God, strong health and strong education can overcome all obstacles,” the First District Representative said.

He called on Premier Dr The Hon. D. Orlando Smith to seek help from the ‘man above’ to guide the territory through uncharted waters.

“A country that has three things, a strong faith in God, strong health and strong education can overcome all obstacles,” well we have far too many fake Christians so fail there on point 1, on point 2 maybe when new hospital is finally open so a current fail, point 3 we have not gone from good to great. I have more faith in the current Minister than when Fahie was in but I still give a fail currently. Overall epic fail! Lets hope in the next 2 years of this administration they get passing grades!

I agree with points 2 and 3, but apparently you are not educated enough yourself or you are inept at thinking outside of the bubble, otherwise you would realize that there are no gods and that all religions keep people oppressed rather than the opposite.

So why Elect a Government if they have to ask the people every damn thing. Look at where it got the NDP. NOWHERE!!! Meeting, meeting, talks talks, meetings and not a $%^&& thing done. You all are sick. We vote for them to run the country let them run the damn thing. When you consult people on every minute thing they only think about themselves. Look a the taxi and cruise pier issue. Do you think Sam and Co. give a £$%^ about the BVI? They don't! They want money and to hell with everything and everyone else. How can we run a country like that? This is why the BVI will never change because we have Legislators like Andrew supporting this backwards negative bull£$%%. Andrew should tell people let the Government work and stop telling them foolishness.

Stoutt had a river of cash and he didn't stop and have meetings with people. He did what he had to do despite the naysayers. Do you think we would've gotten a cruise pier, HLSCC and High School new phase if Stoutt had listened to these @$$E$ here? NO! Especially the College, they ALLL said he was crazy and ALL said NO! He said kiss your @$$ and he went ahead and did it. That's how a Government should run. HL Stoutt never stopped his works to entertain idiots. He knew he was elected to serve and he did so. Do you think HL Stoutt would survive in this era of online news, commentary and idiocy? Never!! The NDP is too damn soft and I don't feel for them one bit because they don't listen. The same thing happened to them last time and they haven't learned anything from it.

For sure the current government is not listening to the People when it comes to the NHI Scheme. Why have all the committee meetings, etc., when you take no consideration for what we have to say. Mr. Fahie, VP, NDP, no party, I agree with you on the government negotiating without a contingency plan nor considering the repercussions. The economy is suffering, people are suffering financially, the government ought to rethink their decisions.

You got to be joking. This man is a main culprit in the mashing up of our finances. So much nonsense he did that will have generations paying for it like his over cost $200 mil hospital project.
