Tigers & Wright win St George’s School Inter-House Sports

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Inter-House School Sports made a return to the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds in Road Town, Tortola, the first time since the hurricanes of 2017, when the Primary and Secondary Divisions of St George’s School combined to hold its Day of Sports on Friday, February 24, 2018.

The children showed grit, determination, passion and even a few tears as they battled to bring pride and valuable points to their respective houses.

In the end it was Tigers who won for the Primary Division. Panthers, Lions and Leopards were 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

Wright House were crowned champions of the Secondary Division.

Results

Some of the action included in the 60m race for Under 9 Girls, which was won by Chelsea Edwards of Panthers while Olivia Hodge of Lions finished second out of 8 participants.

Dnaesia Springette of Branche House won the 60m race for Junior Girls. She also won the 100m for Junior Girls.

The 13 and Under Boys 100m race was taken by Cayden Maximea of Panthers while Reshawnte Lawrence of Lions took second.

The Junior Boys 100m race was won by Hugh-Anthony Jones of Farara House while the Senior Boys 100m race was taken by Jelani James of Wright House. Chad R. Willock, also of Wright House, came second and Michael Chen of Farara House third.

There were also a number of exciting novelty races, including Lime and Spoon, Sack, Three-legged and Late for School.

The Day of Sports ended with two exciting Tug-O-War encounters. The first saw Tigers overpowering Leopards.

The final Tug-O-War event brought a perfect ended to the day’s events with Panthers and Lions battling for a few minutes before Panthers emerged victorious.
