ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The three men, Marcus Lloyd, Wakeem Guishard and Mitch Christopher, who are being tried for the murder of Daren Allen ‘Tiger’ Hodge, yesterday March 19, 2015 were made to hear their interviews done by two investigating officers back in 2014 following their arrest.

Lloyd, who was deemed by the prosecution as the ring leader in a plot to rob ‘Tiger’ of drugs among other valuables he had in his home at the time, denied any involvement in the murder or organising of the murder.

The accused, in his interview, told police officers, “Boy Tiger is my friend… I have nothing to do with Tiger murder… me and Tiger talk down in town that day.”

The court heard that ‘Tiger’ lived in the same area as his father and when one of the investigating officers asked Lloyd if he knew where ‘Tiger’ use to live he responded, “Yea! My father live up there, my father live right up by Tiger… my father is Tiger’s cousin…”

As he was continually being asked about 'Tiger', Lloyd in a burst of anger retorted, “Why yall keep telling me about my boy?”

He told the cops that on the night in question, when 'Lloyd' had no qualms admitting that he knew the co-defendants and the man that is to be called as the ‘star witness’ later in the trial- convicted murderer Terrence Abdula Charles aka ‘Pumpa’.

A statement that was given to police officers by Pumpa implicating the three defendants in the trial was read to each of the men during the interviews. When put to Lloyd, he accused the cops of writing the statements themselves as he noted that, “I aint know nothing about them thing what ayo talking about there. Ayo write them thing, Pumpa could have never write something like that because it causing me and he that’s why you need to bring this man in front of me because if that statement that there what you have, you write that, you write that, he could have never say something like that…because me and he aint had them kind of talk.”

As he maintained his innocence of never being involved in any plot to murder the man he called ‘Friend’ Lloyd, among other things, told the officers, “I were by my wife when Tiger got killed... I don’t know nothing about no safe or no plotting to kill tiger… Me and Tiger were cool my boy… Everybody were calling me Tiger dead, Tiger dead… My boy Tiger were my friend, any thing I want from Tiger he  does give me...”

Lloyd even told officers that ‘Tiger’ was the only person that called him by the name ‘Marcus Garvey’.  But early in the interview when the cops had asked him if there were any other names he was called by or answered to that he had said that he was never in the habit of encouraging persons to call him no other name other than his correct name ‘Marcus’.

The same could be said of the other two, Wakeem Guishard and Mitch Christopher, who both denied having anything to do with a plot to rob Hodge. They also vehemently denied being the two that shot Hodge to death and carted off with the safe.

The trial continues in the High Court today, March 20, 2015 before a panel of jurors and Justice Nicole Byer. Representing the Crown are Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mr Wayne Rajbansie, Principal Crown Counsel Tiffany R. Scatliffe and Attorney at law Mr O’Neil Simpson.

Representing the accused men are Attorneys at Law Mr Patrick Thompson, Mr Jamal S. Smith and Mrs Valerie Stephens-Gordon.
