ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Terrence Abdullah Charles, the main witness in the murder trial of Wakeem Guishard, Mitch Christopher and Marcus Lloyd this morning, March 23, 2015 spoke of how he came to see Allen 'Tiger' Hodge’s lifeless body on the ground and recalled that ‘Tiger’s’ face was “smashed up”.

Prior to giving an account of him actually seeing the body on the floor of the house on September 10, 2010 Charles spoke of being aware of the plot to commit a crime.

He told the court that it was a plot that he was a part of on the Monday leading up to the Friday that the tragic incident had actually occurred.

According to the witness, accused Marcus Lloyd was the one leading a discussion at his Harrigan Estate home that spoke of him knowing that 'Tiger' having “weed” which he wanted to steal. He said at the time Mitch Christopher and Wakeem Guishard were present at Lloyd’s home and he had joined them.

Lloyd allegedly provided weapons

Charles said he agreed to be a part of the robbery plot. According to him, it was Lloyd who said that he was going to provide the weapons "and thing" for the planned illegal activity. He recalled that on the ill-fated night the four were in the ‘Ghetto’ and so was 'Tiger' and that subsequently he was told that it was time to make the move.

He said himself, Guishard and Christopher were dressed in all black attire and after leaving the ‘Ghetto’ to carry out the plan, Christopher and Guishard masked themselves using black T-shirts.

Charles also recalled that a call was placed to Lloyd allegedly by Guishard advising him to keep an eye on 'Tiger' as both Lloyd and 'Tiger' were in the ‘Ghetto’.

He said he was the one to drop off the two at 'Tiger's home' and once he did he proceeded to drive a distance off from the house where he parked in an open lot and waited.

The main witness further testified that while waiting he observed 'Tiger' heading into the direction of his house and after a short while he heard what he believed to have been gunshots. He described the sounds he heard as, "Pop pop pop" then "ra ta ta ta ta tat".

Charles also recalled heading back to ‘Tiger's’ house and assisted in removing the safe from the house and making good their escape.

That same night he alleged they had dropped the safe and the guns back to Lloyd’s home.

Christopher said he was dropped home and it was while there he realised that he was cut on the left elbow, which he subsequently related to Lloyd the following day.

No drugs in the safe!

The witness, who while he was asked to identify the three who he called out by call and full names, he appeared to have been steering them straight in the eyes, said that when he visited the home of Lloyd the day following the murder, Lloyd told him how he had opened the safe and that there was nothing in it save for ‎a piece of sponge and cork, a story the witness told the court he didn't believe. He also said he wasn't paid for the role he played on the day in question.

We became close friends after trip to St Vincent

The witness also told the court that he became friends with Lloyd following a trip they took to St Vincent in June of 2010.

The court heard that they were cordial friends prior as he was introduced to Lloyd by ‎a friend who he used to meet at Lloyd's house.

We got guns

Charles related that when he was introduced to Lloyd by the friend, Lloyd had shown him a gun which he alleged he took from a drum in some bushes in the yard. He said the gun appeared new.

The witness further told the court that he was in no way impressed by Lloyd allegedly showing him a gun as he said guns were nothing strange to him as he had seen them a lot while living in his home country of St Kitts. "He didn't really impress me," he said, "I think it was a bit childish, I wasn't impressed," stated the witness.

The trial continues in the High Court of the Virgin Islands before a panel of jurors and Justice Nichola Byer. The crown concluded taking evidence from the witness before lunch and after lunch the three lawyers sitting in defense of the three accused are to cross examine the witness.
