GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI - Tickets are going like hot cakes for the much anticipated New Year’s celebrations on the island of Jost Van Dyke and according to host Foxy’s, patrons can expect nothing more than their monies worth.

Reggae sensations Tarrus Riley, Shaggy, Final Faze, Showtime, and West Lindely are all bound for JVD what the BVI Tourist Board has dubbed the “biggest jam in the Caribbean”.

According to a release from the tourism authorities earlier this month, December, 2012, “Thousands are expected to flock to the shores of Jost Van Dyke, for the back-to-back live performances by Jamaican musicians Shaggy and Tarrus Riley on New Year’s weekend from December 29-31, 2012.

Labeled under the title “Lucky 13”, the event includes popular local artistes Final Faze, Showtime Band and West Lindy who will open the shows.”

“People come to Foxy’s from all over the world. Our event offers so much freedom and there are so many places to enjoy the festivities. Unlike some places, you don’t have to be stationary in a field or amphitheatre; you can move around and enjoy yourself,” said Tessa Callwood, Senior Manager of Foxy’s.

“People can jump straight into the water from the boat and go party on the beach,” the BVI Tourist Board stated.

Management of Foxy’s told Virgin Islands News Online today, December 28, 2012 that while advance tickets are still available, they are in limited quantities. “But persons who don’t get early tickets can pay at the entrance only that it will cost a little more,” said Callwood.

Giving a rundown of the performances of the artistes, Ms. Tessa told this news site that Shaggy and Final Faze are expected on stage on the night of December 29, West Lindley will be on the beach and bar side on December 30 and the curtains come down with the performances of Tarrus Riley, Showtime and West Lindley on December 31, 2012 to ring in the new year party style. Shaggy is said to be in St. Thomas, USVI sometime from today.

Foxy’s has hosted parties on Old Year’s Night since opening in 1968. In the early days, the owners threw a pig roast and luau for small groups of boats. Over the years, however, widespread attention has catapulted the figure to over 500 charter boats, speedboats, yachts and ferries docked in the harbor with many travelling from nearby villas, hotels and guesthouses to attend the weekend of great food, fun and music.

Bolo's has the tickets. I think they are $80.00 for regular tickets and $100.00 for VIP tickets - but I could be wrong.
