ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The night of Saturday March 18, 2017 will be historical when the very first Miss British Virgin Islands Tourism World will be crowned.

Three young ladies on Saturday October 15, 2016 at Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall gave the audience a sneak peak of what they were bringing to the table in the next five months when they go head to head for the title.

Contestant number one (# 1) Gabriela Aldridge, 20, will be representing Jost Van Dyke, Contest number two (# 2) Sylvanna Charles, 21, Tortola while Contestant number three (# 3) Kamyce Penn, 21, will represent Virgin Gorda.

The contestants made two appearances: the first was a dance performance and the other was the introduction.

The winner of the pageant will be representing the territory on the global stage to compete for the Miss Tourism World title, at a date and a location not yet announced.

The Islander Swimsuit Collection launched

Meantime, another high point of the night was the launch of The Islander Swimsuit Collection, designed by Andrea Wilson who is also the organiser of the event.

Several models, including America’s Next Top Model Cycle 4 winner Naima Mora, gave those in attendance the first sighting of the colourful collection.

The other celebrity in attendance was Grammy Award winning Producer Josh Stevens, who, along with Mora, wowed the crowd with his musical entertainment which earned them a chorus of cheers and even an encore.

Other entertainment was provided by the Saturday Fusion Dance Group, Heritage Dancers, and the Moko Jumbies.

Within the next few weeks a reality television series highlighting the various adventures that the young ladies and the celebrity guests encountered will be aired on JTV Channel 55.

Yea I agree she has packed on a few pounds, but she's still very beautiful. She kinda reminds me of that vg girl with the really long hair, Michelle pretty sister.

Why is Ms.Penn representing Virgin Gorda when she's not from there?
    • Really? (18/10/2016, 08:53) Like (4) Dislike (5) Reply
You do not have to be from Virgin Gorda to represent there. Is the other girl from
Anegada? will they ALL represent Tortola? If they ALL represent Tortola, where will the diversity come in with the show? People like you are reasons why the BVI is segregated to begin with. Since you know so much, enlighten us. because I KNOW she doesn't know YOU. #Bye.

Simple question, simple answer. Y'all are just waiting by the computers to respond with some long excuse of a response. Your attitude clearly shows the segregation with your hostility. Anyway, it would have been clearer if the article stated that each contestant chose which ever island to showcase their platform rather than just stating that they are "representing the island", where I can understand why the original was posted.

oh. same reason the person felt the need to highlight that "she is not from there". As if that is key to represent an island in the B.V.I period. It's the B.V.I as a whole not this "you ain't from here" mentality. When you look on the map, do you see VG alone? or a collection of islands? let's not pretend that it isn't an ongoing thought process, and VERY easy for some one to believe that's the dart they are trying to throw. miss me with the fake crap.
Point of the matter, representation of an island forces one to learn more about the BVI rather than JUST Tortola.
Don't be oblivious to IGNORANCE. or maybe that's your forte'. whatever.
          Stay blessed, Love You.

When Evil people hate you they find away. We already have a Festival Queen. What's wrong why she can't be the tourism Queen. Somebody with power gott to really hate this girl.. There is really no need for another Queen. Keep it as once a year.
    • That's true (18/10/2016, 06:38) Like (2) Dislike (0) Reply
They can hate on her all they want. I look at it as some type of jealousy.
    • Yes (18/10/2016, 09:02) Like (1) Dislike (2) Reply
Get yourself together! NOBODY is jealous of Miss BVI. Y'all put so much strain on that title to begin with, and when she doesn't fulfill your request, they are a horrible queen.

Furthermore, how will you survive in any other country that pushes about 8 pageants annually?

      But the BVI boring right?

Y'all complain about EVERYTHING! SHUT UP!!!! GEEZ MAN. don't agree with the pageant? keep it pushing!

BVI will always be BVI! All you can do is call down people or talk about them. The society we live in today is a shame. We must learn to empower each other. It's not everyone that has a high self esteem. Sometimes you may say something bad and it pushes that person over the edge. Sometimes it's also not that the person likes to eat, it can be a medical condition that has that person that size. I am so sick of you small minded fools in the BVI. Sylvanna baby girl you continue to do what you love because they cant take away what you have and that is beauty and brains. Half of them can't go on the stage, just hide behind sites like these. You know for sure you will be well supported. don't mind the haters!! You need them!! Now make sure you leave a dust mark for them. Team Sylvanna leh we go!!
