Three Firearms, 55 Assorted Rounds Of Ammunition Seized In Trelawny

TRELAWNY, Jamaica - A man and a woman were taken into custody by the police in Trelawny following the seizure of three firearms and 59 assorted rounds of ammunition during operations in the parish, yesterday, Monday, January 14, 2019.

The Falmouth Police report that about 11:30 a.m., during an operation on the Kerry Park main road, the driver of a motor car was stopped.

The vehicle, the driver and a passenger were searched and a Beretta pistol with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition was found.

Further investigations led investigators to the premises of one of the suspects in Samuel Prospect in the parish.

A search was conducted and an AK47 rifle, a M16 rifle and 52 cartridges were reportedly seized.

Both persons were subsequently taken into custody.

Their identities are being withheld by the police pending further investigations.
