ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force report that they yesterday charged three males with Burglary, Criminal Damage and Taking a Conveyance.

Dejson Benjamin, 18, of Greenland and two juveniles aged 15 and 16 of Fat Hog’s Bay and Long Look, were arrested following investigations into a burglary at Marine Max, Hodges Creek, in late August.

Six outboard engines valued in excess of $12,000 were recovered during the Police operation. The vehicle subject of the charge of Taking a Conveyance had been used – it is alleged – as a getaway car to transport the stolen engines.

The offenders are in custody at Road Town Police Station but are likely to be bailed to appear before Magistrates at the conclusion of the Police investigation later today.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sinclair Amory said, “This is an excellent example of intelligence-led policing and good Detective work; offences like this not only damage legitimate business, they also serve to damage the image of the BVI as a safe place. It is therefore doubly satisfying to see these youths brought to justice”.
