CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) officers arrested three men in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands on Sunday November 22, 2015 for unauthorised possession of firearm, after partygoers attending a nightclub event heard gunfire coming from a vehicle in the area, Sakeeda Freeman, the force’s media specialist announced on Monday November 23, 2015.

According to Ms Freeman, citing a preliminary police report, on Sunday at about 8:15 a.m., officers arrested Lyn Fredericks Jr, 33, of Estate Nadir, Tyler LaBarrie, 26, of Bovoni, and Jonaki Hazel, 20, of Estate Nadir.

The report states that at approximately 3am on Sunday, the 911 emergency call centre received a report of gunfire having been discharged in the vicinity of the Krush Night Club located in Subbase. According to several witnesses in the area, the shots were being fired from a dark-colored vehicle that travelled eastward on Veterans Drive.

Shortly after, the same vehicle was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Veteran’s Drive in the vicinity of Pump House. Arriving officers observed two men standing outside the vehicle while the third defendant exited the transport and was seen throwing firearms into the bushes while attempting to flee the scene in the presence of an officer.

Several shell casings were discovered in the alley between the Krush Night Club and Pueblo Supermarket of Subbase, matching the firearms found in the bushes near the Defendants vehicle when the accident occurred, according to the report.

The men, unable to make bail of $25,000 each, were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advise-of-rights hearing.
