ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In investigating two home invasions this past Monday morning, detectives as well as officers from the Task Force with the assistance of officers from Customs yesterday executed a number of search warrants across the island of Tortola.

In the early morning raids, three men were arrested in connection with the aggravated burglaries carried out on Monday (April 155, 2013) morning. During one of the searches, cannabis was recovered and the three men are currently being questioned.

Commissioner of Police David Morris stated that actions were immediate and positive.

"Following information we received from the community, we took immediate action by searching five premises and arresting three men. They are currently being questioned but we appeal to the community for more information. In particular, witnesses report hearing a motor vehicle and a scooter in Great Mountain around midnight Sunday into Monday. If you were there or you saw anything which may have appeared suspicious and think this may be connected to the crime, please contact Crimestoppers at 800-8477 or speak to any officer with the Force by calling the three-digit access number 311,” he noted.

The police continue to step up patrols and ask people to remain vigilant.

Armed masked men invade home at Havers & Great Mountain- RVIPF

Police are investigating two overnight home invasions where occupants reported that three masked men entered and held them at gunpoint; one at a residence in Havers and the other at a residence in the Great Mountain area.

The Acting Commissioner of Police said, "This is a most unusual occurrence here in the BVI and has left the victims feeling vulnerable and traumatized. These men are callous individuals who have used threats to steal items of little material value. The victims will carry the memory of these events with them and the impact of that cannot be underestimated.”

Police are appealing to anybody in the community who may have information, no matter how insignificant it is, to contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 800-8477. Persons can also speak with any police officer within the Force by calling the three-digit access number 311.

The Police have stepped up their patrols on Tortola and are advising residents to take the usual security precautions of locking doors and windows and reporting any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

These hoodlums have no conscience. They are not humans and should not live among civilized societies. People need to BOOBY trap their windows and doors, so that when these idiots break in, a guillotine swing out cutting their damn head clean off. The first one that encounter the rage of a home owner, I bet those other BASTARDS will think twice before illegally entering a home, because they don't know what to expect. People should be allowed to protect their property and families. We have to live in fear of lawless, ruthless, cruel and selfish worms who don't give a damn about people.. Come on fellow citizens we have to defend ourselves against these criminals. We cannot let them consume our freedom. We have an inalienable right to live with out fear, and the criminals are usurping our rights. This is not fair. The police and law enforcement brass need to advise home owners to do what it takes to protect themselves and family. It should be no bars hold. What ever some do to an intruder who enter their homes uninvited, it should be legal. Enter without permission at your peril.
