Thompson takes Lasers' title
Second overall was Chris Haycraft with Alastair Abrehart in third and Andrew 'Tubes' Thompson in fourth.
The battle was as tight at the back of the fleet as it was at the front with Richard May and Peter Tarn duking it out for fifth and sixth and Chris Plowman and Richard Stein battling it out for the final two spots.
Meanwhile, there was plenty of action off the beach with young sailors and parents trying out the new RS Fevas for the first time.
In total 29 sailors got on the water with 9 volunteers providing race committee, safety and shore support - thank you to everyone for a really fun day.
Thad Lettsome wins for VI
Meanwhile, overseas Thad Lettsome continues to impress and this past weekend won the 2019 NESSA Single Handed Championship Nancy Healy Trophy sailing the Laser Standard.
Thad blitzed day one, winning all of the five races sailed. He followed that up with a three more wins, a second and two thirds to emphatically take the title.
Speaking about the event he said, "it was a unique regatta for me because it was a small fleet and we sailed close to land which created very shifty conditions where it is easy to lose as well as gain positions. There was also a lot of current which I do not get to sail in often…This all made for a good regatta which helped me to realise what I need to focus on."
The NESSA Championship is part of the US Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) calendar.
