This Week We Feature Young Professional Aneika A. Blyden
Speaking positivity into the lives of women and girls is the mission of Young Professional and Entrepreneur, Aneika A. Blyden. This she does through her handcrafted jewellery establishment, ‘Chayil Jewels’.
Currently residing at Hope Estate, Tortola, Virgin Islands, our Young Professional attended the Joyce Samuel Primary School and then Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS).
She then enrolled at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) where she graduated with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration.
Building a Brand
Ms Blyden says her journey is still one of learning the craft; however, she remains committed to the mission of her business.
“Chayil Jewels was found on this powerful phrase ‘Your words form your world.’ We create bracelets with faith-filled words inscribed on them as a reminder to help women speak positively and feel confident."
Ms Blyden also told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) she enjoys choosing affirmations for the collections that describe a woman of confidence and said an area she is looking to improve on includes learning the different types of metals.
She said with this knowledge, she can know which is the best metal to use for different 'perfect finishes' in her jewellery collection.
The power of words
Turning attention to life lessons, Ms Blyden underscored that her biggest so far has been learning what happened when you try to please everyone.
“I always think persons opinion of me mattered until I overcame that lesson by starting to believe I am loved by God and he already approved me."
She said now, opinions no longer matter and what also helps is speaking positive affirmations to herself every day.
“I believe in the power of words and manifestation. I believe once a person can speak what they want to see they give the word permission to manifest. The good Bible tells us life and death are in the power of the tongue,” she said.
Our Young Professional said she was initially inspired into the field by understanding that words have power.
Ms Blyden noted that her ultimate desire is to create a platform to spread the importance of the power of a spoken word. “I didn’t know it would start off in jewellery but I love it.”
Parting Advice
“My advice I would give to young people is no matter how much time you fall get back up and try again. Speak exactly what you want to see in your life and let it manifest,” she said to young people as encouragement for them to pursue and achieve their dreams.
For young people looking to pursue a passion, she noted success always leaves clues, “follow and learn from persons already in the field and passion you would like to be in. Learn from them and strive for excellence in what you do.“
Ms Blyden thanked her family, friends and mentors for always believing in her dreams and goals and for continuous support.
