ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Radio show host and commentator Edmund G. Maduro said that if he does not hear from a certain Government official to whom he has taken a complaint regarding a woman who was dismissed unfairly from her job and whose children were taken away from her, he will reveal the name of the official.

He was speaking on his EGM radio show on ZROD 103.7 FM last night July 17, 2014. On the show he revealed that the woman’s children were ordered removed from her and placed in custody of their father. He also revealed that the woman was unfairly dismissed from her place of employment.

Maduro lauded Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA for showing leadership on the issue and for reaching out to help the forlorn woman, whose name he did not reveal.

“The only way we are going to bring help to this poor lady is to make sure we put the right pressure on the powers that be,” he said.

“When this lady came to me I was crying inside,” he said. “I went to one of the authorities and I am not going to call name. They were not in office, I spoke to their secretary, was promised to be called back and was never ever called back,” said Maduro.

“I said the only person I could now go to is the Hon Fraser,” he said. He said that after he called Hon Fraser they arranged to meet and the Third District Representative made some calls on the lady’s behalf to a Government agency. “It was agreed that they would have gotten in touch with the lady and up to this moment that lady has not been contacted,” he said.

“Hon Fraser found a room in a hotel for seven days and that’s where the woman found a place to sleep and with a little help found something to eat,” said Maduro.

“Up to this time the authority concerned has still not gotten in touch with this lady,” said Maduro. “She went back to the Ministry and when she got these trying to see the boss, he was about to leave. He walked out on this poor lady knowing her condition. I am saying these things because if he doesn’t do what he is supposed to do I will eventually call his name and bring the whole thing to the country,” said Maduro.

“She is a citizen, she is [part of the] electorate, she votes, she is a decent person, she does a great job, she is a good worker and she is being abused by her employer,” said Maduro. “This poor lady is being treated like a dog,” said Maduro.

“I will deliver certain letters tomorrow and if within a certain time we do not get official and reliable responses, I will be calling the names and I will be reading letters…this lady must be helped,” said Maduro.

There is a reason why Fraser has gone quiet on this subject good heart or not. Sometimes the help we want is not necessarily the help we need!!

If the labour department made me employ someone I dismissed, I would close my company. This needs to go through the proper channels.

Well close it then. Who stopping you? Set of hot-air wind-bags. Go back where you came from. Don't wait for labour! Go now!

Well closing your company will be your prerogative but there are laws and regulations that also governs employers and there is also something they called unfair dismissal and once it is found that you have dismissed someone unfairly the courts can order reinstatement and thousands of dollars in compensatory damages. So for you to make this comment I think it is share ignorance and I honestly believe that u do not own any business

That is not the case in this saga. If it was Madurro and this nameless person would have gotten a lawyer and followed the proper channel for a decision. Instead on a worldwide forum embarrassing himself and getting nothing in return.

As I said, it needs to go through the proper channels. But if a company decides an employee is no longer suitable and goes through the proper procedure, that is their perogative.

As soon as Frazer don't accept him to VIP ticket, he will be spouting against him again. All this about is trying to get on VIP ticket. I don't see that happening Edmund.

I thought I was the only one that saw this. It will be another Lorie Rhymer. Good good with the party until they burst his bubble and tell him he cannot join their team. I can't wait, he will join the PEP or PPA bandwagon then and the cycle will continue.

anyone who voted NDP last time should be held accountable to the thousands of our citizens for the pain and suffering, distress and inconvenience they have been forced to undergo as a result of the shortcomings and failures on the part the NDP gang
