‘The VIP will be the next government’- Carvin Malone
Mr Malone also believes that current chairman of the VIP, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) can be trusted for the position of Premier as the records show he is capable.
The former VIP President and businessman, Malone, made those statements while on the television talk show, Honestly Speaking, with host Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline and aired on CBN Channel 51 on August 29, 2017.
Not surprised VIP lost in 2015
Asked if the VIP was ready for the 2015 snap elections, Mr Malone said “no” and that he was not surprised when the VIP lost.
Mr Skelton-Cline then asked if the VIP plans to come back and take power in the next elections, Mr Malone said “the Virgin Islands Party will be the next government…”
Hon Fahie can be trusted as Premier
Mr Malone also declared his full support for Hon Fahie as the next premier of the Virgin Islands, as according to him, a person’s record of service is one of the key ingredients to leadership.
“He makes me tired just hearing his schedule on a Saturday and a Sunday...and I think when it comes to making decision he is quite keen and quite on the ball…he looks in terms of the big picture.”
The issue of trust has always been whispered when it comes to weighing Hon Fahie for the leadership of the territory, although critics f Hon Fahie have never stated clearly and publically what exactly their issues of trust are.
According to Mr Malone, there are a lot of people that question him as to whether he (Mr Malone) can trust Hon Fahie.
“I can trust him, I think his family can trust him, I think the country can trust him. It is the citizens of the country that have to hold leaders accountable.”
The records speak for Hon Fahie
Mr Malone stated also that the records are there to show that Hon Fahie did a good job as Minister for Education under the Virgin Islands Party administration.
“When it comes to his record in the First District, there is a reason why the people have put him there for another four years and a fifth particular term and even in bigger numbers,” Mr Malone said, adding that Hon Fahie is not close minded and doesn’t only seek to look after his district but all of the districts.
“And we want a leader who is not afraid to address the issue.”
Meanwhile, Mr Malone was asked if he was going to run for office at the next elections, but said he was not prepared to address that question on the talk show.
“Honestly Speaking, I am not going to make that declaration here on this show.”

While I admire and appreciate Fahie's fighting to hold this government accountable in getting answers, (extremely valuable in this political climate), I have long questioned how a large coastal pump up at West End moved forward without neighbours knowing about its specific use, and the fact that TCPD didn't want to discuss it (even though they were supposedly to give permits). Is this executive privilege when that particular intersection to the north side would have been perfect for a village town centre? Now it will be an industrial site in a crucial view tourists love.
I am not convinced that either party or its members can quit benefiting themselves instead of the residents. Please think BIGGER!
Look at me now.
NDP and it's unmatched forward movements all over the BVI. Millions of dollars left in reserve.
And comes now a Premier whose name when Googled gives ammunition to any and all in the International community to discredit and proceed with destroying our offshore banking industry...yep that would be a pipe dream.
Our ancestors are watching, We are blessed. VIP is done.. VIP under its current leadership is finishedoing Mr Malone..
