‘The VIP must return to power!’ – Hon Julian Fraser, RA

-said it would be in the Territory’s best interest
“The Virgin Islands Party has as its mission the betterment of our people through opportunities for their empowerment, but as simple as that may sound we must first win the next general elections and retake the government which we never should have lost on November 7, 2011,” Chairman of the VIP Honourable Julian Fraser, RA told residents at a community meeting in Sea Cows’ Bay on Wednesday August 27, 2014. SEA COWS’ BAY, Tortola, VI – The leaders and members of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) are not leaving any stone un-turned to ensure that they return to power which would allow them to continue the job started in taking the Territory forward.

He told of the VIP’s long history that is rich in tradition and solid in achievements. “Our founding leader was the first Chief Minister of this Territory and he is responsible for placing the BVI on the map as far as development is concerned,” said Hon Fraser, referring to H. Lavity Stoutt, the late Chief Minister.

According to Hon Fraser the Territory’s boasting of a comprehensive Secondary Education is as a result of H. Lavity Stoutt who opened Secondary Education to all students throughout the Territory in 1968.

“We would not be boasting of a college were it not for Hamilton Lavity Stoutt who possessed at the time the faith of Job, and the Wisdom of Solomon when he decided to establish the College, now bearing his name at Paraquita Bay. The Central Administration Building which was roundly criticized as an unnecessary economic waste was also his doing,” said Hon Fraser.

Community members also heard that the VIP’s most recent past Chairman Hon Ralph Tilford O’Neal OBE (R9), who was present at the meeting and hailed as a giant among giants, stands without equal in the halls of Parliament, and on the streets of politics. He is said to be the quintessential statesman and an astute politician.

“Ralph O’Neal was the first Premier of the Virgin Islands. He is responsible for the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport. He is responsible for the Cruise Ship Pier and the Queen Elizabeth Bridge,” said Hon Fraser.

As Chief Minister and Premier and in his role as District Representative Hon O’Neal was said to have been responsible for modern day Virgin Gorda. “Ralph Tilford O’Neal is a VIP. The VIP built this country, not the NDP. In this very District the VIP has its indelible mark that will last forever.”

Continuing to remind community members of the rich foundation laid by the VIP Hon Fraser said that Past District Representative for over 24 years, Mr Oliver Cills was a member of the Virgin Islands Party and was responsible for the two alternate roads out of Sea Cows Bay which takes one directly to Road Town and Harrigan in one instance, and in the other, to Chalwell and on to the North Side of the island. He was also responsible for Ellis Thomas Downs, now home for some of the best horse racing in the Virgin Islands.

It was under Oliver Cills’ watch that the 114 acre Nibbs Estate was purchased from the Georges by Government in order to be sold at subsidized rates to residents, particularly first time homeowners. Today, over 120 persons and families were awarded lots on the estate. The Virgin Islands Party Government of the last Administration even went as far as to eliminate customs duty on building materials for first time home owners, Hon. Fraser reminded.

What really happens in the first 1-2 years after a party has been voted it? How much months it will takes before the new party can unturn all the projects that is taken place and projects that has been sign off to start? I personally sick of the NDP myself but they have some much on going projects if they were to be voted out tomorrow will that be good?

    Just wondering

OH NOOOOOO. Not VIP AGAiN. Same old garbage trying to disguise it as new. It still reeks. Sick of Fraser and all the phoney bolognas in office. Sick of the whole bunch of them. I do hope all the projects that have been started under NDP will continue for the good of the entire BVI. Let's see if NDP is voted out, will VIP continue the projects or will they selfishly throw them to the side, proving to us that they are even worse for the BVI and wasting good money to prove they are on top again.

You must be mistaken! I believe you have confused the VIP and NDP. The VIP has not claimed to be new that was how the NDP got in last time.... all I know is that the NDP has increased taxes and lied about the country being broke not to mention bypassing protocol because they don't want to monitored! The VIP may have been slow with some things but the NDP makes life more difficult for people and that is a fact!

When you really sit down and think about it, NDP has only enriched themselves and their friends. They have done nil for the good of the BVI on the whole. The growth they promised to bring did not come. It only got worst. They raised taxes instead of providing jobs necessary to feed families. When you compare the track record of the VIP and NDP side by side, VIP comes out on top. You can't look around in the BVI and say, NDP did this for the people, or the BVI. It was their same selfish victimizing behavior the first time around and it is baffling why the voters bought their lies and think they would be different this time.

When those in and with power and authority begin to think that they know more than the people they serve we begin to see their true colours and intentions. Keep that ex COP off your ticket, he is all to vindictive and spiteful.

NDP must go!! Hon Fraser you have changed some of your negative ways and with that you will be a strong leader. Go for it am with you all the way. You are the only member that is paying attention when it comes to unemployment and we ppl that have homes that are not rented and still have a mortgage to pay. We do need the expats as much as they need us. Address this issue and you will be on par.

I agree with you that NDP must go. Since they got in power they ensure that the court judgement with the government is paid. $18.million dollars went to the investment club. They got instant money. The voters should not make them fool them twice. Dem boys seh that Archie, Myron, Deloris, Alvera, Marlon are wasting time. Action man filling his pocket as well. Can't wait to get them out.

He keeps trying to convince people that he has changed. I don't believe it. I do not like NDP and want VIP to return, but Fraser needs to campaign differently-- like sticking to the issues and what the vision of VIP is. As seen in the US- when Republicans' only goal is to stop anything Democrats suggest-- Tell people what the issues are and what you plan to do. You try to call names and it makes you look just as weak and game-playing. Fraser is playing off his ego. Good leadership includes humility and discipline.

I wish he would quit leading with VIP VIP VIP and talk about the issues. People will vote if they like the message. Not fear mongering or name calling.

The At-large candidates will decide the next Govt. VIP (all fresh blood) Anne, franky, Julian, Neville- VS. NDP (Old blood) Archie, Myron, Orlando, Ronnie. Would it be a battle of experience or a battle of fresh ideas? This is just a wish> No facts. Unconfirmed.
