EAST END, Tortola, VI - Leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP 1), Hon Myron V. Walwyn (AL), took yet another swipe at the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), his main competition in the run to take the helm of the Virgin Islands (VI) government after the 2019 General Elections.

On Saturday, February 9, 2019, in Parham Town, East End, Tortola at the launch of the NDP’s Eight District candidate, Hon Marlon A. Penn, Mr Walwyn launched a vicious attack when he accused the VIP of doing ‘gutter politics’ with no proper plan of action for the territory.

“Their plan is to win the government by any means necessary, but it is clear to all… that they have no plan of how to govern,” alleged Mr Walwyn.

Distractions

He said the VIP’s main focus is to run a dirty campaign with no real economic plan on how to take the Territory forward.  Addressing what he called 'gutter politics,' Walwyn said that his party has been telling the people of the territory exactly how they are going to make life better, however, the VIP is offering nothing but distractions, distortions and plain out untruthful ‘WhatsApp messages’.

“Some persons have said that I have been soft in responding to the nonsense which have been polluting our political space… I have said to them that we have hopes for a better way of politics and do not wish to join anyone in the practice of politics in the gutter,” he said.

“The gutter is not our home. It is not a place where we feel comfortable and it is not a place where you the good people of the Virgin Islands should feel comfortable either,” Mr Walwyn uttered.

Hitting directly at the Hon Andrew A. Fahie (AL) led VIP party, Hon Walwyn said, “The last time I checked the bottom of the gutter was green. My colour is one of strength, determination and love. Our colour is red and the gutter is not for me,” he told his supporters gathered at the rally.

Doing right

Hon Walwyn said that a key opportunity that the NDP 1 is looking to tackle during their next term in office is addressing the infrastructural requirements of the territory and for them to build a modern Virgin Islands post-hurricane Irma with more plans to do right by the seniors and other citizens, in a “decent and proper” way.

“In this season of talk, be aware of people who promise you that they can make you a millionaire but cannot provide a plan, or do not have a track record of really getting anything of consequence done,” he said.

Political pundits have long accused the NDP 1 party of engaging in gutter politics and lies in addition to pushing division, disrespect, dishonesty with no accountability and transparency over its 8-year rule over the VI.

Further, Hon Walwyn is currently under investigation for a wall he constructed around the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) where the Auditor General in a report said the project was corrupt and lacked value for public funds.

“I do not have promises of making each person in the Virgin Islands a millionaire, but I can promise you that this new NDP government will create an environment where our people once they have the will and the drive can succeed,” Hon Walwyn said to those gathered.

    1. What are we really trying to accomplish?
    2. Is it really country above self?

The Hon. Man I hear you and I believe that the new NDP Team will do right by the Territory. The team look good and sound good especially the newbies. I am going to VOTE NDP ALL THE WAY..But come on man...stick to the plan..all of that other stuff is not necessary!

We all have been in some sort of a relationship before. We also know that newly formed relationships usually for the better part works almost perfectly until a big toe is stepped on then all hell break lose. It is quite obvious that the relationship between several political candidates have experienced “misunderstandings” or “gone sour” and this is surely evident now. Unfortunately this type of “fall-out” happens ALL the time, to ALL kind of people, ALL over the world! Sadly, the word “forgiveness” and the phrase “lets work it out” are regrettably neglected.

Persons who seek to be elected or re-elected for that matter MUST put country above self in ALL aspect of governing the Territory and indeed work BETTER TOGETHER because we are definitely BETTER and STRONGER TOGETHER! This is the only way to move our Territory FORWARD! THIS IS MY PRAYER.

So is MW admitting that they did not do right by the territory for the past 8 years?? Well at least he is honest this time, so if they have not done right for 8 years, how can we take that blind risk of putting them back in for another 4 years?? That includes RS and MT too because they sat with them and made those bad decisions that left us broke as a country..

Then that include all parties. It is apparent that your head is stuck in the sand because all of VIP members are not new and their resume is not squeaky clean either. Stop being bias.

This is the same man who from the onset called for clean campaign but he is the same one who started the nasty campaign and have the nerve to tell people in the sixth that they have kept that promise. You have to know the color of the ghut bottom because there is where you have landed yourself with your nasty unethical behavior.

Myron Walwyn that AG report you leaked to BVI News on Hon. Fahie and that Neighborhood Contract to Claude, that is nothing new we all knew about it and knew things went wrong but why will you want to dig up that now after 10 years. You read the report but you have learnt nothing because you have find yourself in trouble with a small wall. Now what we the public wants to hear at this time is why Rochelle, Temulgi, Debbie, Ms. P and a host of others are still been paid Thousands of tax payers money for alleged consultancy, we want to know what consultancy they are providing and the documentation on such consultancy. You really think you are clean Myron? You are the most nasty of them all. There is no way you can match up with Fahie so wheel and come again Myron. Tell us about that PR hotel room tape you try to destroy and why. Tell us who you were with in that car the night the police roll up on you in pasea in the area of Tico and what you were doing in that car with the individual. Come on we need to hear about these things and not something that happen ten years ago.

It's not only ten years ago really. Politically, it was the last time Andrew was in power. You have to look at it like this. It is the last reference point they have to him in power.

But who can say for sure that if VIP wins, Andrew will be the Premier? Is it written in stone that a Party Chairman should be the Premier?
Vice Versa the same for NDP! I see where there could be a Shocker to all where if NDP wins, it will be a fight for SU to be first Woman Premier! Just thinking outside the Box...anything is possible with these Elections!
